Cheongna Mexican restaurant mild-spice fajita set for two: Taco Dot

I've always loved tacos and fajitas and Mexican food in general, so my partner and I went to Taco Dot in Cheongna 🌮

The name itself, Taco Dot..👀✨ It sounds like it's going to show me the ultimate taco, so my expectations were already high before we even ate haha 🩷 This time we went for the set menu that lets you have both fajita and quesadilla together.

What the restaurant and seating are like

Walking in, the space was more spacious than I expected.

It had an exotic decor that felt like real thought had gone into the interior. The interior was comfortable, and the seats were wide and cozy. Good, good.

There were high chairs ready too, so it looked like a good spot for a family meal with kids.

You order using the tablet at the table.

What comes in the 55,900 won fajita and quesadilla set

We picked the fajita + quesadilla set for 55,900 won and chose chicken for the quesadilla.

The fajita comes with meat, shrimp, sautéed vegetables and rice, and tortillas plus several sauces come on the side.

Dishes like this are always fun to wrap yourself haha

Meat on, one shrimp on, a little vegetables and rice in, then sour cream and salsa on top for one bite! Yum~ 🐷💗

And my partner is way better at wrapping these prettily than I am 🩷💚 Tasty and pretty, kudos to you, sweetie haha

Meanwhile I kept greedily adding stuff until my tortilla was about to burst.

How does the fajita taste? Mild on spices

The fajita meat at Taco Dot Cheongna Branch didn't have as strong a spice aroma as the Mexican food I usually like.

Rather than a bold exotic hit, the overall flavor leaned familiar. I personally wouldn't have minded stronger spices, but for anyone trying Mexican food for the first time, or not used to spice, this would actually be an easy, comfortable eat. To my taste it felt close to a beginner-friendly Mexican dish 🌮

And the thing that stood out more than expected in the fajita was the onion! It was cut into fairly big pieces, cooked until quite soft. Eating it, I thought, 'oh, this onion is sweet' haha

I personally prefer onions cooked down further so they blend naturally into the meat. That part was a little disappointing. But adding sour cream and tomato salsa made the flavor noticeably fresher and brought out more of that Mexican feel.

I tried it with just meat, then loaded up on vegetables, then added a bit of rice too. Especially with the soft sour cream and the fresh salsa added in, the combination was better than eating the meat alone.

Even with the same ingredients, the flavor changes bite to bite depending on what you put in and how much — that's the charm of fajita. Rice came along too, so it was more filling than expected.

Chicken quesadilla: the cheese does the work

The chicken quesadilla that came with it had, first of all, really generous cheese.

Taking a bite, you taste the cheese before the chicken! The cheese's savory, mild flavor was strong, and there was so much of it that anyone who loves cheese would be pretty happy.

I wished I could taste a bit more of the chicken or the other filling. It felt less like a quesadilla and more like eating a tortilla pizza loaded with cheese haha

Eaten plain, cheese leads the flavor; dipped in sauce, it gets fresher — I preferred eating it with the sauce.

Both the fajita and the quesadilla overall didn't have spices that jumped out strongly. So it was a bit different from the intense Mexican food I'd been hoping for, but if you're new to tacos or fajitas, it should feel familiar and easy to eat.

The greeting at entry felt a bit curt, which was a small letdown, but the restaurant was spacious and the seats were comfortable.

Is Taco Dot Cheongna worth it?

I usually love Mexican food, so I had high expectations for Taco Dot Cheongna Branch.

Personally, if the onions were cooked down a bit less and the meat had more spice flavor, it would have suited my taste much better.

Still, there was fun in picking your own ingredients to pile on the tortilla and mixing in different sauces 🌮 This was Cheongna taco leaning toward a familiar, comfortable taste rather than bold spices!
