Hi everyone haha, coffee-loving Maesil here!
I visited the renewed food hall at Lotte Department Store Nowon a while back~ After eating at Ttamttam, I stopped right next door at Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters and had their signature coconut coffee!
This time I had another reason to head back to Lotte Department Store Nowon, so I dropped by again lol. If you're looking for a good café at Lotte Department Store Nowon, today's review should be helpful.
A famous Suwon Haenggung-dong roastery, now in Nowon?
Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters is apparently known as a roastery café in Suwon Haenggung-dong where people line up! So the fact that they've opened a spot in Lotte Department Store Nowon might pique the curiosity of anyone hunting for good cafés there!
Where is Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters? Beside the renovated food court
Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters, Lotte Department Store Nowon is on basement level 1 of the food hall, right next to the Ttamttam store I reviewed last time!
With the food court renewal, the store itself still keeps that clean, hip vibe!
One thing to know before you order
This location is takeaway only, and it's clearly posted that you can't sit at the food court seats.
Better to plan on taking it out to a nearby bench or sipping while you shop~ Gotta keep that sugar level up while shopping, am I right??
Coconut coffee vs decaf Americano: which to pick
Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters' signature coconut coffee is their flagship menu item! You can choose the bean between dark roast, medium roast (acidic), or decaf!
How much do the drinks cost?

- Coconut coffee (iced only) ₩7,000
It had creamy foam with a subtle coconut aroma and just the right level of sweetness. For me the sweetness was gentle enough not to feel heavy, but if you're worried it might be too sweet, you can ask them to make it less sweet when ordering! On the other hand, if you're not into coconut flavor at all, this might not be your thing, so keep that in mind~
That day I wasn't really in the mood for something sweet, so instead of coconut coffee I tried the decaf iced Americano!

Personally, what caught my eye most was the staff's caps! Everyone was wearing the same cap and it was seriously so cute lol. While waiting for my coffee I got curious and looked over, and they were selling the same caps as goods. The cap was especially adorable, so if you need one, it's worth a look!!

Besides the cap goods I mentioned, there were also MD items like coffee beans, drip bags, and tumblers on display. I got to have fun browsing while grabbing coffee~
If you've read my posts before, you know this haha — true to a great coffee shop, they were using a La Marzocco machine here too! lol
What the decaf iced Americano actually tastes like
The buzzer went off and I finally got my decaf Americano!
With decaf, you often worry it'll be watery or just taste overly bitter. But this one had none of that. No sourness or bitterness, just the right amount of nutty flavor, and it went down clean~ It'd be great for anyone worried about caffeine or wanting a coffee in the evening!

If you use the Lotte Department Store food court, you can get a 20% discount! Note that it applies when you use the food court, not just this basement 1 store!!
And here's something I personally thought was a really thoughtful touch — pregnant guests get a free change to decaf!! Seeing that kind of attention to detail made me like the place even more~
By the way, they were running a cold brew 2+1 deal to celebrate the opening. (Period: Sep 4–23) If you want to stock up at home or the office, this could be a good chance!
Coffee in hand, a lap around Food Avenue
Rather than just taking your coffee and leaving, I'd recommend a lap around the renewed Food Avenue! There are now lots of new dessert corners, so it's perfect for walking around with a coffee in hand and window-shopping cakes~

This time, unlike last visit, I tried the decaf iced Americano, and it had its own charm compared to the coconut coffee. Go for the signature coconut coffee when you're craving something sweet, or the decaf Americano when you want something clean~ If you're looking for a good café at Lotte Department Store Nowon, Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters is worth a visit haha.
