Corkage-free Western restaurant lunch at Gijang outlet: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Restaurant is a roughly 230 sq. m (70-pyeong) Western restaurant in unit 180 on the 1st floor of the NORTH building at Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets in Gijang, Busan. Lunch was a napa cabbage Caesar salad (₩16,000), shrimp anchovy pasta (₩18,000) and abalone cream risotto (₩20,000), and the risotto's abalone innard sauce was the most memorable of the three. With a YES Kids Zone, free corkage and free outlet parking, Bueokgan makes an easy family lunch stop between shopping.

When you're out shopping at an outlet, figuring out where to eat lunch can be a real dilemma, haha..! While shopping at Shinsegae Premium Outlets Gijang, one restaurant caught my eye. That's Bueokgan Restaurant.

Visiting Bueokgan Restaurant at Shinsegae Premium Outlets Gijang

It's known as a Western food spot in Gijang, and the setting felt easy for a family visit too. Here's my review of lunch at Bueokgan, from napa cabbage Caesar salad to shrimp anchovy pasta and abalone cream risotto.

Where Bueokgan is and where to park at the Gijang outlet

Bueokgan Restaurant is inside Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets, at 1st floor, unit 180, NORTH building, 1133 Jeonggwan-ro, Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea. Hours are Mon–Thu 10:30–20:30 and Fri–Sun 10:30–21:00, and parking is free at the Shinsegae Premium Outlets.

It sits in NORTH building 1F, unit 180, right next to the wine shop. Even within the outlet, it's easy to find — just head to the escalator area in front of the UGG store and look for unit 180.

Looking in from outside, it seems a bit dim, but once you open the door, a wide, bright space opens up. Being inside the outlet also means plenty of parking, so there's no need to worry about that, and it's a convenient stop before or after shopping.

How the three dishes at Bueokgan tasted

A plate of Bueokgan's napa cabbage Caesar salad

Caesar salad built on grilled napa cabbage

First up was the napa cabbage Caesar salad. The grilled napa cabbage topped with sun-dried tomatoes, bacon chips, onion flakes, and plenty of cheese looked so pretty I reached for a bite before I even took a photo.

The natural sweetness of the grilled napa cabbage, the salty crunch of the bacon chips, and the creamy Caesar sauce came together for a flavor that was light yet savory.

Cross-section of the napa cabbage salad with Caesar sauce

Unlike the usual style, Bueokgan's Caesar salad is built on grilled napa cabbage as its base — a real point of difference that makes it a must-try dish >_<

Bueokgan's shrimp anchovy pasta plated

Bueokgan's signature shrimp anchovy pasta

The shrimp anchovy pasta is Bueokgan's signature oil pasta. Even as an oil pasta, it wasn't harsh at all and had deep umami. The salty flavor of the anchovy anchored the base firmly, and there were plenty of plump shrimp for a satisfying bite.

It finished light and clean rather than greasy, so it seemed like a dish that would please just about anyone.

A bowl of Bueokgan's abalone cream risotto

The highlight: abalone cream risotto

The highlight was the abalone cream risotto. The rich abalone innard sauce blended with cream gave off a deep, intense flavor — the very first spoonful filled my mouth with umami.

It came loaded with generous chunks of abalone and clam meat for good texture, and the crispy fried enoki mushrooms on top added even more texture, keeping every last bite interesting. Of the three dishes, this was the most impressive, and if I come back, I'm definitely ordering this one again!

Verdict: a Gijang lunch to pair with outlet shopping

Bueokgan is a Gijang lunch spot that's conveniently located for a shopping break while also delivering satisfying food quality. All three dishes — the napa cabbage Caesar salad, shrimp anchovy pasta, and abalone cream risotto — exceeded expectations. The abalone cream risotto in particular has an overwhelmingly rich abalone innard sauce flavor, so I'd definitely recommend ordering it.

Bueokgan's three lunch dishes served together

Running as a YES Kids Zone with baby chairs and children's tableware ready, plus free outlet parking, a spacious interior, and a waiting area, it's also a great fit for a family outing. If you're looking for a Western food spot in Busan or Gijang, I'd recommend Bueokgan at Shinsegae Premium Outlets Gijang. Next time, I'm planning to add the lasagna to the order.
