We came to Jeju Samchun Hamdeok Beach Black Pork to put a special finishing touch on our trip to Hamdeok Beach, loved for its blue water and emerald views!

Walking in, the clean, pleasant interior catches your eye right away. You can eat while looking out through the folding windows at a quiet Jeju garden — such an atmospheric space.

This place turned out to be an officially certified pork retailer recognized by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province~

The basic table setting and sauce lineup

Right from the basic table setting, everything is neat and clean with no clutter.

There's an impressive variety on the table — Maldon salt that isn't too salty and lets the meat's own flavor shine, meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) and galchi-jeot (fermented hairtail sauce) that pair perfectly with Jeju black pork, breadcrumb salt, fragrant shiitake sauce, and salty pollack roe.

They said the good-quality black pork is wet-aged at low temperature for 300 hours and smoked with grapevine wood chips, which maximizes the meat's tender texture and aroma.

Aged black pork grilled tableside by an expert

Traveling with a kid is always hectic, so I wanted to eat comfortably without rushing — and since the owner grilled the meat himself over the charcoal grill, we could really relax and enjoy.

He cut the golden-browned meat into bite-sized pieces and arranged them neatly on the grill — you could really feel the touch of a meat expert!

Deolmisal: galchi-jeot over meljeot

The first cut he served was deolmisal (neck cap meat), and he kindly explained it should be eaten first.

Dipped in the pungent meljeot, its crisp texture and deep flavor came together perfectly.

But I'd actually recommend pairing it with galchi-jeot instead! It matched so well~

Pork collar: Maldon salt and pollack roe kim-ssam

Next up was the pork collar, and just a light dip in the not-too-salty Maldon salt was enough to bring out full flavor.

Following the owner's tip, we wrapped it with savory gim (seaweed) and salty pollack roe, and the combination of nuttiness and umami was perfect.

Pork belly: piled high with breadcrumb salt

For the fatty, savory pork belly, he also recommended dipping it generously in breadcrumb salt~ Breadcrumb salt sounded unfamiliar at first, but once I tried it, the crunch and savory flavor of the breadcrumbs was such a treat — I understood why he recommended it~

The meat was so tender that even my kid happily wrapped and ate it herself. With the shiitake sauce, pollack roe, and other varied side dishes and sauces, this was a Jocheon spot you could enjoy without ever getting bored.

Kimchi jjigae with deep flavor that makes you scrape the pot

After thoroughly enjoying the meat, the grand finale was a spicy kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew). Well-fermented kimchi simmered with a rich broth gave it a spicy yet deep flavor, and it was loaded with meat, making it very satisfying.

Even my husband, who's usually picky about stew flavor, kept raving about it and scraped the pot down to the bottom — a perfect finish. Whether you're on a family trip, a date with your partner, or a gathering with friends, this is a Jocheon spot where anyone can have a comfortable, satisfying time.
