Anseong café: tomato basil cheese hotteok and floor seats, Chat Baker

Once my baby started walking, I began hunting down large cafés between Pyeongtaek and Anseong. Even though I'm in Pyeongtaek, I'll drive over to Anseong if there's a large café good for babies — and Chat Baker was fully satisfying. If you're looking for a baby-friendly café, I totally recommend it. I went with my 15-month-old, and it's genuinely a great place to visit even at that early age.

Chat Baker sits in Gongdo-eup, Anseong. Gongdo is close to Pyeongtaek too, so if you're looking for a large café between Pyeongtaek and Anseong, it's worth a visit. When I first arrived I thought, wait, there's a café here?? It's tucked among outlet stores. Which means zero parking worries!! The lot is huge. As a new driver, a big parking lot is everything to me...

The bakery showcase at Chat Baker, known for its salt bread

Walking through the entrance, there was a pretty café waiting.

There was sliced bread, cakes, and just so many kinds of bread. Being a bakery-brunch café, the bakery selection was huge and all looked delicious. Apparently this place is famous for its salt bread.

While ordering, there was castella out as a sample, so I gave my baby a bite. We hadn't eaten a meal before coming, so we were hungry and ordered a risotto from the brunch menu. In the end we got an iced Americano, a strawberry milk latte, jambon truffle cream risotto, salt bread, ciabatta, and tomato basil cheese hotteok (savory-sweet stuffed pancake).

Photo-friendly stairs and live jazz at Chat Baker

Chat Baker is a pretty café overall, but I especially loved this staircase. I took baby photos here and they came out amazing. My baby, who loves wandering around, went up and down these stairs three or four times....!

Turns out Chat Baker is actually a jazz musician. The café occasionally hosts live jazz performances. I'd love to come back for one sometime.

While waiting for our drinks, we stepped out onto the terrace too, which was well set up.

First floor vs second floor: where to sit with a child

It's a two-story large café, and the 1st floor is super modern and pretty too. Clean white and wood-tone interior, just lovely...

The 2nd floor is also spacious and pretty, with a modern atmosphere. Being so big, it's great for kids who can't sit still. That said, there are jars and other objects scattered around, so keeping close watch on your child is a must.

On the 2nd floor there's a microwave along with water and tissues, so you can warm up bread once it cools — a nice touch.

At large cafés like this, usually some seats are pretty and others are just average, but at Chat Baker every seat was lovely. The tables are spacious and comfortable, which also makes it perfect for family gatherings.

What the floor-table seats are like

There are floor tables like this, which are great for looking after a child. Most families with babies seemed to end up at the floor tables, so that's where we settled too. There are sofas at both ends, which made the spot even better.

Finally, our drinks and food arrived, and it all looked so good... For Chat Baker's famous salt bread, we scooped out the inside for the baby and ate the crust ourselves — eating salt bread together with the risotto was seriously delicious. If you order the risotto, get the salt bread too and eat them together. It's a combination that just cannot fail!!

The baby seemed to love it too — polished off a whole scooped-out salt bread. The ciabatta was tasty as well, and that tomato basil cheese hotteok was *really* good. Next time I go, I'm definitely buying the salt bread and the tomato basil cheese hotteok again.

Is Chat Baker a good café to visit with a baby?

If you're looking for a large café between Pyeongtaek and Anseong that's good to visit with a child, Chat Baker comes fully recommended. We went on a weekend and it wasn't too crowded, which was even better. I think because there are so many seats, even with a lot of people it never feels packed. The staff were also super kind!!
