Chinese restaurant next to the playground at Starfield Anseong: Chibao

Since we were at Starfield Anseong anyway, we grabbed Chinese food! We had a hearty spread of jjajangmyeon, tangsuyuk, and tantanmen, plus fried dumplings on the side. True to being at Starfield — one of the best Anseong spots to go with kids — the place was clean with great kid facilities, so I'd happily swing by again next time we're there.

Chibao Starfield Anseong Branch (치바오 스타필드안성점) is on the 2nd floor of Starfield Anseong. It's easy to find — just take the escalator up from the 1st floor and you're right at Ittopia. Hours are 10:00–22:00.

Inside Chibao: why it's an easy meal with a child

The layout lets you see straight into the kitchen, so it feels clean and trustworthy — the chef even looked the part, like he really knew what he was doing haha. True to a good spot to visit in Anseong with kids, there's a playground too, and the interior is tidy, so it was a comfortable place to eat.

Chibao's menu and how we built the order

There were several set menus, so we went with the 2-person set plus extra fried dumplings. The tantanmen (spicy peanut noodle soup) looked like it'd be good, so after going back and forth with jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), we ordered jjajangmyeon and tantanmen — and since it felt like a bit was missing, we added the fried dumplings too!

How does Chibao's tantanmen taste? Thick peanut broth

Ta-da~ the tantanmen has that slightly peanutty broth, nutty and rich, with a swirl of chili oil drizzled on top for extra flavor. It's an unusual yet familiar taste — really tasty.

There was an egg on top, plenty of noodles, and something like Chinese-style pickled mustard greens mixed in.

My husband ate most of this one and I stole bites from his bowl — honestly, stealing bites always tastes better haha.

Ah, but forget everything else — the broth was the real star. That thick broth soaking into the noodles made it taste even better, and it made me happy.

I'm not usually a fan of noodle soup broths, but this one was so good I kept eating. You could catch bits of peanut in every few bites too haha.

So honestly, I finished the whole bowl, broth and all. As a good place to visit in Anseong with kids, it wasn't very spicy at all, which made it even more enjoyable.

Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) for the child

This jjajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles) was ordered for the kid! The sauce was well fried in oil, and eating it fresh at the restaurant made it taste even better.

Both the vegetables and meat were cut fairly small, so it was easy to eat and swallow — just a solid, classic jjajang flavor, and a clean, easy Chinese meal option at Starfield Anseong.

I portioned out a bit of both the tantanmen and jjajangmyeon for myself — the chef clearly goes above the basics, and since it's a franchise, it's nice knowing you can enjoy this quality reliably anytime.

My kid ate better than expected too, mixing the noodles up nicely with the sauce.

The mini tangsuyuk that comes with the 2-person set

This is how the tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) comes when you order the set — a small bowl, but packed full.

Each piece was bigger than I expected, so 2-3 pieces already left me feeling full! Since it came with the set, the portion size was just right.

The meat was packed generously inside with no gamey smell, making it clean and easy to eat!! The batter seemed to be glutinous rice — crispy yet a bit chewy, which made it even better.

The tangsuyuk sauce was tasty, and it was good dipped in the jjajang sauce too.

Fried dumplings, the extra order that filled us up

Partway through, my husband felt like it wasn't quite enough, so we ordered fried dumplings. Our little one's been eating a lot lately, so we almost ordered a 3-person set haha, but held off — then ended up quickly adding this extra dish since the jjajangmyeon was so good we ate more than planned haha.

Dumplings just have to be fried! It's hard to make them like this at home, so it's a menu I order occasionally when eating out.

Crispy on the outside, packed full inside, and truly fried to a crisp — a great pick as a good place to visit in Anseong. We finished off dipping them lightly in the tangsuyuk sauce. But we were so full by then we left two behind.
