When you’re craving a satisfying meal in Osong
Haengbokhan Udon Gage Cheongju Osong Branch (행복한우동가게 청주오송점) is just the place to visit on a day when you’re naturally craving a hearty plate of food.^^ Like the story of a warm bowl of udon that has continued since 1997, this is a spot proud of its deep, carefully made flavors.
The building exterior was neat and immediately caught my eye. It is on the corner of a main road, so you can spot it as soon as you turn into the alley—very easy to find, even on a first visit.😄

Parking and late-night takeaway
Parking around the restaurant might seem like a slight concern, but there is absolutely no need to worry! From 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the lunch period, parking enforcement is suspended on the road in front, so you can park comfortably. I photographed the cars parked on the nearby road before going in, so I hope it helps when you visit. At other times, use the parking lot behind the restaurant or the nearby alleys.

Every menu item is available for takeaway, and the restaurant stays open until 2 a.m., making it perfect when you want to comfortably sort out a late-night snack or meal at home.👍

Retro interior and how to order
As I stepped inside, I noticed the cozy interior, full of retro charm in warm wood tones. The light through the floor-to-ceiling windows was lovely, and the space was pleasant—a perfect atmosphere for a relaxed meal.

You can check detailed prices and clearly marked ingredient origins in advance, from the varied meal selection of kake udon, old-style pork cutlet, and spicy pork rice bowls to dishes that work well as evening drinks snacks.

The restaurant is decorated with retro knickknacks and friendly posters, creating a cozy mood. Thoughtful conveniences are dotted around too, including a coat rack, high chairs, and a coffee vending machine.

Once seated, I picked the dishes I wanted from the kiosk. I chose carefully so I could try a few different things, then finished ordering. haha

A full spread of old-style pork cutlet, spicy pork rice bowl, and bibim mandu
Here are the dishes I ordered.^^ There was a spicy pork rice bowl generously topped with meat and a subtle smoky aroma, crisp old-style pork cutlet, and sweet-and-tangy bibim mandu (fried dumplings mixed with vegetables and sauce)!!! Doesn’t it all look delicious? haha

Crisp, thick old-style pork cutlet
This is the old-style pork cutlet, with its crisp coating and clean, savory flavor. A large, thick cutlet arrives generously covered in the familiar sauce typical of old-school Korean Western-style restaurants, offering both a nostalgic taste and a filling meal.

The old-style pork cutlet has a substantial layer of thick meat inside its breading. Its crisp texture and juicy meat come together nicely, building deeper flavor with every bite.

Spicy pork rice bowl in an aluminum pot
This spicy pork rice bowl is popular as a filling meal. Rice, seasoned stir-fried pork, and plenty of shredded seaweed come in an aluminum pot, with the sweet-spicy sauce soaking nicely into every grain of rice for a generous, satisfying dish.👍

Sweet-and-tangy bibim mandu
This is bibim mandu served in a large bowl. Crisply fried, bite-sized dumplings, crunchy cabbage, fresh lettuce, and other vegetables come together with a sweet-spicy house sauce, making it a truly lovely extra dish.^^

Haengbokhan Udon Gage Cheongju Osong Branch operates daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. without a break time, so it is an easy place to drop by anytime. If you want a hearty meal in Osong, I recommend stopping in and choosing to suit your taste—from pork cutlet and rice bowls to its signature freshly made udon, sweet-and-tangy bibim mandu, and a varied selection of evening snacks.
