Busan Chinese restaurant for a relaxed three-dish meal: Bueokgan

Today, I visited Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch (부엌간 차이니즈 마린시티점) in Marine City, Haeundae, Busan :) I was looking for somewhere to eat around Marine City, and it definitely had a different atmosphere from an ordinary Chinese restaurant. Located on the second floor of the Adelis shopping complex, it was fairly spacious and looked like a nice option for a family meal, date, or gathering with friends. Most of all, I was excited because it is a Chinese restaurant where you can dine while taking in the feel of Marine City and its sea view.

The day after my Busan trip, I was craving a spicy bowl of jjamppong.

A Comfortable Chinese Restaurant Atmosphere in Marine City

That day, I ordered some of the most basic and commonly chosen Chinese dishes.

• Jajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce)
• Jjamppong (spicy seafood-style noodle soup)
• Tangsuyuk (crispy sweet-and-sour pork)

As soon as I entered, the upscale atmosphere—so different from a typical Chinese restaurant—stood out. The lighting and furniture felt warm yet refined, making it feel closer to a stylish restaurant than a Chinese eatery. The tables were also generously spaced, so it was comfortable to enjoy a meal.

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is said to build on traditional Chinese cooking while bringing a more expressive touch to both its space and menu. I could really feel the care put not only into the food but also the interior and overall mood. If you are looking for somewhere in Marine City for a family meal or a date, I think the atmosphere would be especially satisfying.

Three Dishes Served with the House Sides

As you would expect at a Chinese restaurant, there were also basic side dishes to enjoy alongside the meal. Once we ordered jajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk together, the table quickly looked abundant. Each dish arrived looking neat and appetizing, so I simply had to take photos, haha. Jajangmyeon and jjamppong are familiar dishes, but their flavor can vary quite a bit depending on the ingredients and cooking method. At Bueokgan Chinese, even the basics felt a little more like proper composed dishes.

What Was the Poached-Egg Pork Ganjajang Like?

First, I tried the poached-egg pork ganjajang. It is said to be one of Bueokgan Chinese's most beloved dishes, so I had high expectations. Smoky five-layer pork belly and a soft poached egg were piled on top, giving it a look quite unlike ordinary jajangmyeon. After mixing the noodles well with the black bean sauce and eating them with the pork and egg, the nutty, rich flavors worked beautifully together.

Perhaps because of the poached egg, the black bean sauce tasted a little smoother, while the pork became more savory the more I chewed it and paired well with the noodles. If you love jajangmyeon, this could be a good order when you want something different from your usual bowl.

The Spicy Broth of Beef Brisket Jjamppong

Next was the beef brisket jjamppong. It came generously topped with thinly sliced beef brisket, so it looked hearty from the start. The broth was spicy and rich, with the flavor from the meat making it distinctly different from a standard seafood jjamppong. The noodles and broth made for a satisfying meal, and adding the brisket brought an extra savory note, making it filling enough as a one-bowl meal.

It seemed like a dish that would be even better on a rainy or chilly day. It had jjamppong's characteristic spicy warmth without feeling overly intense, so it was easy to enjoy.

A Meal with Black-Vinegar Pork Loin Tangsuyuk

Of course, we also ordered black-vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk, a Chinese-menu essential. Since it seemed to be cooked to order, the coating arrived crisp and warm. The use of pork loin gave the meat a nice texture, while the outside was crunchy and the inside tender—perfect to eat between bites of jajangmyeon and jjamppong.

The black-vinegar sauce seemed to give it deeper flavor and a gentle tang compared with ordinary sweet tangsuyuk sauce. It was not too intense, so it was easy to dip the pork in, and the sauce went well with the crisp coating. Tangsuyuk really is best while it is hot, and it was even tastier fresh from the fryer, haha.

A Chinese Meal with a View of the Sea

The food was lovely, but the atmosphere at Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch was equally memorable. With its Marine City setting and pleasant surroundings, you can dine looking out at the sea from the window-side seats, which made it seem like a good place for a special occasion. Rather than the noisy, oily feel of a typical Chinese restaurant, it felt quiet and clean, so it looked well suited to a family meal or a date.

There are also private rooms, so I think people looking for a gathering or group-dining venue could use it comfortably. Although we ordered the most basic Chinese dishes that day, each had a distinct character. The jajangmyeon was memorable for its nutty, smooth flavor from the pork and poached egg; the jjamppong offered rich, spicy broth topped with beef brisket; and the tangsuyuk paired crisp pork loin nicely with black-vinegar sauce.

Ordering all three let us enjoy the sweet and savory taste of jajangmyeon, the spicy kick of jjamppong, and the crisp, tangy tangsuyuk. If you visit with a group, I recommend ordering jajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk together and sharing them as we did.

Along with familiar dishes such as jajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk, there were also distinctive Bueokgan dishes including poached-egg pork ganjajang, beef brisket jjamppong, and black-vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk.

Since it is located in the Adelis shopping complex, parking is available, and reservations and takeout are also said to be possible, so keep that in mind before visiting. If you are looking for somewhere in Busan Marine City for a family meal, date, or meal with friends, Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch may be worth considering :) We enjoyed jajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk that day and had a relaxed meal 🤍
