Ravenna signature dishes

After a light little date with my kiddo, I was craving Western food for the first time in ages, so we headed to Ravenna, a popular restaurant in Yeosu!

Where is Ravenna, and where can you park?

Known as a Yeosu date spot for Italian food, Ravenna sits between The Ocean Waterpark and Kumho Terrace in Soho-dong.

Set your navigation, follow the coastal road all the way~ and when you see the Ravenna private-parking sign, just turn right and pull in, haha.

Ravenna private parking directions

There are around 10 parking spaces under the building, plus room for another 3–4 cars nearby, so parking really is not something to worry too much about!

Ocean-view interior and self-serve bar

Once we were parked, we took the elevator or stairs up to the second floor~~ haha. Ravenna was neat and tidy right from the entrance.

Neat entrance to Ravenna

The warm lighting and wide-open ocean view made the interior feel airy rather than cramped! Ravenna is quiet and elegant overall, so I thought it would also be nice for small events such as wedding-invitation gatherings or family get-togethers.

Seating at Ravenna restaurant

The self-serve bar, with pickles and gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), is centrally located so everyone can use it easily.

There were high chairs ready for guests visiting with children, too!!

You can also make coffee and tea yourself according to your taste, haha. I had coffee with the pre-meal bread, and it was low in acidity—totally my style!!

Waiting chairs by the entrance

There were chairs by the entrance where you can sit comfortably if there is a wait, haha.

Using Yeosu Love Gift Certificates

Ravenna is also an affiliate merchant for Yeosu Love Gift Certificates!! But there is no QR code available, so you need to bring the physical card!!

As an Italian restaurant, the menu includes steak, pilaf, pasta, risotto, and pizza.

Pasta and pilaf menu

Haha, we ordered two of the signature recommendations: the Hot Seafood Ttukbaegi Pasta and the Gat Kimchi Pilaf!! Both were S size, but wow, the portions were huge,, Unless you are seriously confident, do not order the L size xx

Soft, moist pre-meal bread

Pre-meal bread with butter

The pre-meal bread comes out right after you order! It was soft and moist, like Outback bread. It was tasty spread with butter, haha. Delicious on its own too, but also great with a cup of Americano coffee!

The dishes arrived as we were enjoying the pre-meal bread!

Haha, when the salad came out, I took a bite sandwiched with the bread and then properly started the meal!!!

Chewy, crisp gat kimchi pilaf

The gat kimchi pilaf!! It was really well-fried pilaf topped with an egg.

The moment it hits your mouth, the texture feels completely Korean-style?! But honestly, I have never had pilaf in Italy, so I do not know the European style,, It is a little like fried rice, but not that fluffy fried-rice texture—more chewy and crisp, I guess? It had the texture of something that had been stir-fried with so much care!! And you could really tell there were loads of vegetables in it: gat kimchi, onion, bell pepper, shrimp, mushrooms, and more!!

Pilaf with vegetables and shrimp

It was tasty on its own, but sliding some egg on top made it softly delicious. Adding more gat kimchi from the self-serve bar brought out that pungent, spicy mustard-leaf flavor, so it was not rich or greasy at all—so good, haha.

Pilaf served with gat kimchi

And as you can see from the photos, the portion was honestly way bigger than expected, hahaha. The S size, listed as one serving, was already this much, so I cannot even imagine how much the L would be hahaha.

Tomato pasta loaded with seafood

The Hot Seafood Ttukbaegi Pasta! You can tell just from the photo, right?! It has so much seafood in it, hahaha.

It was my first time trying Ravenna’s pasta. Even from the name, “Hot Seafood Ttukbaegi Pasta,” I figured it would have a deep, hearty flavor—and it did, hahaha. It is tomato-based pasta with seafood mixed in beautifully, giving it a lightly spicy yet subtly deep flavor!! Eating it with the clams, shrimp, mushrooms, and everything else gave it even more varied textures, which made it extra delicious.

It also goes really well with the gat kimchi at the self-serve bar, so definitely try them together!!

A generously satisfying meal at Ravenna

My kiddo and I tried Ravenna’s Hot Seafood Ttukbaegi Pasta and Gat Kimchi Pilaf, and the thing we noticed immediately was how much seafood, vegetables, and other ingredients went into both dishes!! That is why they did not taste light—they had such rich, deep flavor, which I loved, haha.

And the portions were definitely not just one serving,, We went in expecting a moderate amount because it was Italian food, but even conservatively, each was at least 1.3 servings, and the gat kimchi pilaf in particular was generous enough to call 1.5 servings or more! Parking on the first floor was easy too. We visited at 5, so we did not catch the sunset, but the whole layout has an ocean view, so coming around sunset or after dark for the pretty night view would be lovely as well, haha.
