Where is Hohobak in Busan?

Hohobak is a kasutera injeolmi (castella-style rice cake) shop located on the 1st floor of 6 Nakdongnam-ro 1389beon-gil, Saha-gu, Busan, South Korea. It's a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Hadan Station, and it's open Monday–Friday 08:00–16:00, Saturday 08:00–13:00, closed every Sunday.

Hohobak, famous for its pumpkin kasutera injeolmi, is a 5-minute walk from Hadan Station. If you reserve ahead, you can pick up your rice cakes right away, so I made sure to reserve in advance. If you go without a reservation, there's a chance they'll be sold out,,

Hohobak has such nice prices too. As a pregnancy perk, you get 1 free Hohobak milk.

Hohobak also handles a lot of group orders and gift/return-favor orders.

Hohobak sells not just pumpkin kasutera injeolmi but also mugwort kasutera injeolmi and black sesame kasutera injeolmi — and the mugwort one is said to be the first ever made in Busan! First-ever means I had to try it, right?! haha I picked one of each flavor!

They also sell coffee and iced tea, and the prices are so nice @.@

Do you need to order ahead at Hohobak?

You can buy rice cakes at Hohobak without a reservation, but you might not be able to get the flavor or quantity you want, so I really recommend reserving ahead!! The rice cake boxes come in small, medium, and large, and on the day I went there was only one large box left ㅠㅠ

Hohobak also offers gift/return-favor packaging. They wrap it in a pretty bojagi (wrapping cloth) box, which looks like it would make both the giver and receiver happy.

Hohobak milk is also made in-house and sold at the shop, so it must taste amazing too, right?! hahaha

The owner even gave me a cute pumpkin-shaped fan haha. So cute right 🖤 It was so hot the day I went to pick up the rice cakes, and the fan saved me,, ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

There are three flavors — pumpkin, mugwort, and black sesame — and even the medium size has a pretty generous amount! It seems like it could easily be split into two servings.

I finally got to try the pumpkin kasutera injeolmi!! The moment it hit my mouth — the chewy texture, the soft castella powder, and the sweet sweet-pumpkin flavor — I understood right away why Hohobak's rice cakes are so famous!! 👍 I regretted not trying it sooner,, It's sweet, but a sweetness you don't get tired of, so I kept reaching for more~~

Mugwort kasutera injeolmi

This is Busan's first mugwort kasutera injeolmi. The moment you open the box, the deep mugwort aroma alone earns it a pass, and the flavor carries that same deep mugwort taste, which was so delicious. My mom especially loved it and said the mugwort tasted great. Even kids who don't like mugwort could enjoy this mugwort kasutera injeolmi — the castella part was soft and tasty too, so I scraped up every last bit.

The nutrient-packed black sesame flavor was pure nuttiness. It's not too sweet, so it's a flavor older folks would love too! Chewy and nutty, it was truly delicious. With its mild taste and nutritional value, I could feel with every bite that this rice cake was good for you 🩶
