Hadan, Busan tteok shop: three kasutera injeolmi compared at Hohobak
In short
Hohobak is a takeout-only tteok (rice cake) shop a five-minute walk from Exit 1 of Hadan Station in Saha, Busan. On a weekday at 8:30am, one medium box each of rice kasutera pumpkin injeolmi, mugwort kasutera injeolmi, and black sesame kasutera injeolmi was collected by reservation and tasted side by side. Hohobak makes and sells everything the same day, so the injeolmi is soft and fresh, and the boxes are neat enough for thank-you gifts or holiday presents.

Where is Hohobak? A 5-minute walk from Hadan Station Exit 1

Hadan's Hohobak, a shop many people visit for Busan thank-you gift rice cakes, is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Hadan Station. It's easy to get to by public transit, and since you can stop briefly in front of the shop for about 5 minutes, visiting by car wasn't much of a hassle either.

Pumpkin injeolmi is so hot right now! I wanted to eat freshly made pumpkin kasutera injeolmi the same day it was made, not the frozen delivery kind, so while looking around I found this Busan thank-you gift tteok shop, Hohobak.

Even though it's a tteok shop, it has a strong dessert café vibe, so maybe that's why an iced Americano to go with your rice cakes is only ₩1,500!

Busan thank-you gift tteok shop Hohobak has been designated a Saha-gu hotspot and a fair-price model business, and it also offers benefits for pregnant customers.

No seating at Hohobak: reserve for pickup, as the tteok can sell out early
Hohobak is takeout and pickup only, so there's no space to eat in! Since they only sell rice cakes made that day, once the day's stock runs out they can close early, so I reserved ahead and visited.

Hohobak menu: three kasutera injeolmi flavors and Hohobak milk
Busan's thank-you gift tteok shop Hohobak sells only 3 types of rice cake!
- Rice kasutera pumpkin injeolmi
- Mugwort kasutera injeolmi
- Black sesame kasutera injeolmi
These are the 3 kasutera injeolmi flavors they sell.

For drinks, they sell simple coffee options, iced tea, and Hohobak's own signature Hohobak milk.
- Rice kasutera pumpkin injeolmi (medium)
- Mugwort kasutera injeolmi (medium)
- Black sesame kasutera injeolmi (medium)
There are 3 size options — small, medium, large — and since I wanted to taste every flavor, I ordered one of each in medium, the most reasonable size. The price wasn't too pricey or burdensome, so it was perfect as a Chuseok (Korean harvest holiday) gift too.

Gift boxes and bojagi (traditional wrapping cloth) sets at Hohobak
The basic gift packaging comes neatly done at no extra cost, making it perfect for gifts or thank-you presents.

They also offer bojagi wrapping for special occasions like Chuseok, other holidays, or family meetings, which was perfect for this year's Chuseok gift. The bojagi wrapping is really elegant and clean!

Arriving at Hohobak at 8:30am: commuters grabbing pumpkin milk
They also sell a set of the signature rice kasutera pumpkin injeolmi plus pumpkin milk, which was really good as a snack for kids too.

The pumpkin milk is also made and sold on a same-day basis, giving a strong sense of trustworthy quality that puts health first. Moms nearby or people living in Hadan use it a lot as a snack for their kids. I visited around 8:30am on a weekday, and there were even customers buying pumpkin milk on their way to work!

With good flavor and nice packaging for thank-you gifts, kids' snacks, or Chuseok presents, I had a feeling I'd be a regular, so I even grabbed a business card.

The shopping bag is clean and cute — just right for a light gift, this Busan thank-you gift tteok shop Hohobak!

Opening three medium boxes: four mediums equal one large
Each flavor was neatly individually packaged in a paper box. I was told that 4 medium sizes equal the same amount as one large, so if you want to try a variety of flavors, buying one of each medium like I did seems like a good idea.

Drumroll, opening it up!!! It felt heavy when I picked up the box! Inside it was packed full of injeolmi rice cake and kasutera powder.

From left to right: mugwort, black sesame, pumpkin. Getting to eat soft, freshly made pumpkin injeolmi the same day it was made — haha, when it comes to pumpkin injeolmi spots in Busan, it's Hohobak near Hadan Station!

The colors of the kasutera powder are so pretty! Hadan tteok shop Hohobak follows a same-day made, same-day sold principle, so it tastes best eaten the same day — and any leftovers can be frozen and thawed at room temperature to still enjoy chewy, soft injeolmi.
I also bought one small size! Isn't it just so cute? This was truly perfect as a kids' snack or a light breakfast substitute.

How did the three injeolmi taste? Mugwort aroma and a chewy bite
Even the kasutera powder had a deep, rich mugwort aroma and flavor soaked into it. It's clearly different from factory-made rice cakes that are just colored to look the part.

The injeolmi is chewy and soft, and when I bit it in half, you could clearly see the mugwort bits inside! At this price, you could really feel the quality and freshness of the ingredients.

The powdery, crumbly kasutera powder had a touch of sweetness mixed in, and combined with the chewy, soft injeolmi, it felt like a healthy snack. This was Hadan Station tteok shop Hohobak, which would also be great as a group snack in Busan :)
