On the day my husband got off work early, we had a little time before the kids got home from school, so we went on a café date. 🍨 Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch is a dessert shop I'd wanted to try because the look of it seemed so unusual and pretty. 🍨 And it wasn't just the looks: the taste and the portion were satisfying too.
Where is Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch?
Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch is on the 1st floor of 11 Yongso-ro, Nam-gu, Busan, on the Daeyeon-dong café street near Kyungsung Univ.–Pukyong Natl. Univ. Station. We walked up from the Pukyong National University side toward Kyungsung University, and it's roughly across from Paris Baguette, so it isn't hard to find.

It's the Daeyeon-dong café street, so it's a hangout for university students and a perfect date course too ^^

Taerae Queen Kyungsung: atmosphere and self-service bar
The inside is bright and clean, the kind of place where people of any age can walk in and enjoy bingsu (Korean shaved ice dessert) without feeling awkward. We came at an in-between time on a weekday, so there were plenty of seats, which was nice.
Videos about Taerae Queen play near the entrance, and there's a self-service bar where you can get water, wet wipes, straws and tissues.

Besides the signature taerae bingsu, they also have yogurt taerae ice cream, premium coffee said to be roasted with an eco-friendly civet (luwak) method, and homemade fruit syrup ades, so I think it can satisfy anyone looking for a café around Kyungsung University.

Why we ordered the Lotus Coffee Taerae Bingsu on World Coffee Day
We were thinking of the new Milk Choco Taerae Bingsu, but while looking at the menu we ended up ordering the Lotus Coffee Taerae Bingsu. It also happened to be October 1, World Coffee Day, so since we were eating anyway, we went for coffee flavor~

At Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch, if you leave a Naver receipt review or a Google Maps review (both count), you get one round of the nostalgic prize-draw game.

While we were waiting for our food, customers started coming in one by one. See, customers come because we showed up~ haha (nope... it's just that time of day when everyone's sugar runs low haha)
Among the cafés near Pukyong National University, this one has a cozy, tidy interior that's great for chatting with friends, and you can take a relaxed break here!

Taerae Queen is said to be a dessert that has built a legend of long waiting lines in hot spots like Gangnam, Sinnonhyeon and Hongdae in Seoul! Now you can try it at Kyungsung University in Busan ^^ It's a premium taerae (thread-style) bingsu and ice cream shop that's hot on social media, with a look and texture where every strand feels alive like a skein of thread~

How big is the Lotus Coffee Taerae Bingsu (15,500 won)?
Taerae Queen's Lotus Coffee Taerae Bingsu is ₩15,500. When our order came out, wow! The bingsu was much bigger and prettier than I expected hahaha

It was so pretty that it felt a shame to eat, so I took a ton of photos first.. hahaha
It was my first time seeing and eating thread-style bingsu, and it felt clearly different from ordinary red bean bingsu or milk bingsu~ It also comes with toppings already on it, so it's rich and full without adding anything extra, which I liked.
Bingsu you eat with a shovel! They give you a spoon shaped like a little shovel, so you're basically digging into your bingsu~ haha The look is unusual and even the spoon is fun, so I think kids would love it if you came with them.

What makes taerae bingsu different from regular bingsu?
Instead of shaving ice and piling it up, taerae bingsu pulls a frozen milk base out in thin, long threads and stacks them up lightly~
Lotus Coffee Taerae Bingsu toppings

Cereal, and Lotus crumble (sobcoro)! Toppings that look crunchy just from looking at them! Won't they get soggy sitting on the bingsu? I'd better eat fast.
Last, I took a quick video haha, then I'll dig in before it melts!
What does the Lotus Coffee Taerae Bingsu taste like?
Wow.. it really just melts away sooooooo softly. Because it unravels into thin threads, the texture is much softer and more fun than regular bingsu. It melts gently like snowflake bingsu, but the long-strand shape makes it fun to look at too.
I scooped into it with the shovel again and again, and the thread shape doesn't get crushed, which is amazing! It doesn't feel like coarse ice grains, it melts softly in your mouth, and the milk base is rich, nutty and smooth, the best! With the coffee flavor added, it felt like eating strong coffee milk as bingsu.

The fruit cream glutinous rice cakes we ordered together are being left alone for a while until they thaw.
The toppings like Lotus crumble and cereal were all crunchy crunchy crunch. Since they sit on top of bingsu I worried they'd be soggy, but the crunch stayed alive, and eaten with the soft bingsu the texture was the best! It was so tasty I kept reaching for more hahaha

Eating it with the chewy glutinous rice cake too felt like a fusion dessert~ haha I thought the coffee flavor would clash with the rice cake, but it blends right in! Love it.
No matter how much I ate, it never seemed to shrink! And we didn't even come on an empty stomach.. how is this possible~ hahaha
What flavors do Taerae Queen's cream rice cakes come in?
The cream glutinous rice cakes (chapssal-tteok) at Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch come in 4 flavors, and one of them is coffee, which would overlap with the bingsu, so we ordered only the other 3.

They've thawed a bit, so let's try~ Chocolate / melon / strawberry. Cut up and decorated, it looks like a flower garden. And no matter how much I eat, the taerae bingsu doesn't melt as fast as I expected, so amazing!!

The rice cake itself has a richer flavor than I expected, so it's tasty on its own, but even better with the bingsu!

Chewy rice cake plus soft milk bingsu is a combo that can't miss!

Lotus-style desserts can sometimes feel dry and stick in your throat, but eaten with the rich milk base of the taerae bingsu, you get the crunch first and then it melts and goes down smoothly, so it was easy to eat~
Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch: final verdict
If you want bingsu that's a little different from the usual, head to Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch! The pretty look makes taking photos fun, and the thread-shaped bingsu melting softly in your mouth was unique too~ The topping snacks weren't soggy at all and stayed crunchy the whole time, a whole new world +ㅁ+ I could taste the taerae bingsu properly until the very end. Best of all, great value for the price!!! haha
