A tteokbokki spot open late in Yongridan-gil

I visited Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch (현선이네 용산본점), long famous for great tteokbokki in Yongsan's Yongridan-gil◡̈ Since it stays open late, it is easy to drop by, and with everything from solo-dining options to made-to-order tteokbokki, this is a Yongsan Korean snack spot where you can choose exactly what suits your taste!

Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is a three-minute walk from Exit 6 of Sinyongsan Station.

The tall chimney and red roof made it instantly recognizable even from far away!

Since it is known as a great tteokbokki spot in Yongsan, there may be a wait, so I recommend checking the queue status before you visit! Even though I came after weekday lunchtime, there were still lots of customers and hardly any empty tables.

Kiosk ordering and the self-service bar

You order at the kiosk! I wanted to try a bit of everything, so I ordered the Hyeonseonine Combo Set, which includes tteokbokki, fritters, mul eomuk (fish cakes in broth), sundae (Korean blood sausage), and mini gimbap (seaweed rice rolls)~ The Baby Set seems like a good solo-dining option, and there were quite a few people eating alone too😆

Pick up everything you need for your meal, including side plates and aprons, from the self-service bar!

Fried-batter crumbs and single-use seasonings for tteokbokki

There are fried-batter crumbs ready to sprinkle over the tteokbokki, which makes it even tastier! Plus, the salt and soy sauce come in single-use packets, which was so convenient and hygienic〰️👍🏻

The Hyeonseonine Combo Set came out soon after I ordered! Since it comes with tteokbokki and all kinds of sides, it was incredibly generous◡̈

I ordered the combo wondering whether a set meal might be too small, but every item was plentiful and I was really full by the end! I think it would be just right for three to four adult women to share😆

Spicy half-and-half tteokbokki and fish cake broth

The tteokbokki is a must-order at Hyeonseonine! You can choose mild, spicy, or half-and-half, but even the half-and-half is quite spicy, so if you cannot handle heat, I recommend the mild version~

Tteokbokki available in mild and spicy flavors

Because it uses wheat rice cakes, the seasoning really soaks in and tastes so good👍🏻 The sauce is spicy with a subtle sweetness, a flavor everyone would enjoy, and this soupy tteokbokki is perfect for scooping up!

Mul eomuk goes so well with the spicy tteokbokki! The thick, wavy fish cakes and deeply savory broth pair beautifully with it, so I totally recommend it◡̈

These are not cheap fish cakes with an overly floury taste, and there are several little mul tteok (rice cakes in broth), which makes them fun to eat too!

Chewy sundae served with tteokbokki sauce

There is chewy sundae that tastes amazing dipped in the tteokbokki sauce too✨ It is a type that most people can enjoy without strong preferences, and you can order a half-and-half mix with offal, but I ordered only sundae without offal.

Must-try mini gimbap and assorted fritters

A hidden star at Hyeonseonine, the famous tteokbokki spot in Yongsan! The mini gimbap is seriously delicious, so make sure you try it✨

They are small but generously filled, so they taste just like regular gimbap, and they are perfect for popping one at a time.

Lastly, the assorted fritters made the Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch set meal complete✨

The assorted fritters include vegetable fritters, gim-mari (fried seaweed rolls), sweet-potato fritters, fried dumplings, and squid fritters—an easy-to-love lineup.

Freshly fried, these were wonderfully crisp, with a thin batter and generous fillings, making the assorted fritters even more delicious~ I recommend them if you want to sample a variety of fritters!
