I visited Hyeonseonine, which is supposedly a hot Korean snack spot in Yeouido. It’s a chain I’d wanted to try, and I found it while visiting The Hyundai—such a great Korean snack place near The Hyundai 🍙 You can eat alone here too, and it has all the Korean snacks Koreans love, from gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) and fried snacks to tteokbokki and sundae.

What I ordered

Hyeonseonine Set ₩23,000

I ordered the Hyeonseonine Set (tteokbokki + fried snacks + sundae + gimbap). I considered ordering individual items, but I like having lots of things together, and all the reviews were good overall, so I went for the set!!

How each item in the Hyeonseonine Set tasted

Basic sides

Basic sides

These are the basic sides I brought over from the self-service bar. You can help yourself to danmuji, salt, soy sauce, and cutlery. The danmuji was thin, so approved.

Mild tteokbokki

Tteokbokki ordered mild
Mild tteokbokki

I ordered the tteokbokki mild, and it was just a tiny bit spicier than Shin Ramyun. The rice cakes seemed to be made with rice, which I personally liked even more.

Sweet and spicy tteokbokki sauce

The tteokbokki sauce wasn’t just spicy—it had sweetness too, exactly the kind of tteokbokki flavor I like. Rather than tasting like a franchise version, it had that savory, spicy homemade flavor. I liked it so much I’d eat it often if it were near my home haha.

Sundae and offal

Sundae and offal selection
Sundae

Sundae is indispensable with tteokbokki. So many Korean snack places don’t serve offal these days, but I loved that they gave plenty here. It came with sundae, liver, and osorigamtu (pig’s stomach).

Sundae and osorigamtu offal

Among the offal, the osorigamtu was the tastiest. The liver was a little dry, which was a shame.

Generous serving of sundae

The portion was quite generous too—about enough sundae for 1.5 people.

Lightly seasoned chewy sundae

The sundae was lightly seasoned, so it was tasty even on its own: nice chewy sundae.

Mini gimbap

Mini gimbap brushed with sesame oil
Mini gimbap

The mini gimbap was bigger than I expected. If you have a small mouth, it might be hard to eat in one bite.

Large mini gimbap

It tasted like the gimbap we all know, and the sesame oil brushed on top gave it a delicious nutty flavor. You get four rolls in total. Portion-wise, it seemed about equal to one regular gimbap roll.

Mini gimbap with egg, pickled radish, and ham

The mini gimbap has egg, danmuji, spinach, and ham—a combination that can’t possibly taste bad. It’s even better dipped in the tteokbokki sauce haha.

Fish-cake broth

The Hyeonseonine Set doesn’t include fish cake, but it does come with fish-cake broth. Having the broth definitely made the meal better. It was refreshing and clean with a peppery flavor—good sense from the owner.

Assorted fried snacks

Assorted fried snacks

The fried assortment included one each of sweet potato, vegetable fritter, gim-mari (fried seaweed roll), yaki mandu (fried dumpling), and squid. It was nice to sample every kind, and the fritters weren’t hard; they were crisp and tasty, like they’d just been fried.

Fried snacks absolutely need tteokbokki sauce. The sauce is spicy, so it goes well with the rich fried snacks. The sweet-potato fritter was sweet and so delicious too.

Sweet-potato fritter and fried gim-mari

The fried snacks were all good overall, so I think you can order according to your taste. My picks are the gim-mari and sweet-potato fritter. The squid fritter seemed the most ordinary.

Hyeonseonine Set for two people

It was enough for two people to eat until full. Since the set is in the ₩20,000 range, I recommend it if two people want to enjoy a variety of Korean snacks.

Why I want to return to this IFC Mall Korean snack spot

A full table of Hyeonseonine Korean snack set dishes

Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki is the Yeouido IFC Mall spot I’m recommending today!! I recommend the set, and among its items my ranking is tteokbokki > mini gimbap > fried snacks > sundae. The tteokbokki sauce was so good that I want to come back to this Yeouido Korean snack place 🍜🍤🌭🥙
