Yeongdeungpo bar with private two-person rooms: Ho Samchon

This is the Yeongdeungpo Station bar where we had our work dinner. Our table ate separately in a private room (a two-person seat). Soft tofu stew was ₩10,000, Tomato Hangover Pasta Soup was ₩21,900, and bead ice cream was ₩9,000 (probably ₩9,000).

A spacious, quiet bar for group dinners near Yeongdeungpo Station

For a work dinner at a Yeongdeungpo bar, it needs to be spacious and quiet, with no scary troublemakers around. Ho Samchon (호삼촌) near Yeongdeungpo Station checked those boxes, so we went.

Ho Samchon is a pub for gatherings in Yeongdeungpo. It is one of the bars in Yeongdeungpo open until 2 AM, operating from 5 PM to 2 AM. It is a very good idea to ask about reservations or empty seats before you go.

Head up to the second floor. But what does Ho Samchon mean? Is the owner surnamed Ho, or does it mean Tiger Uncle?

I got confused because I could not find the entrance after coming upstairs. You just push the telephone over there and walk in.

It kind of looks like a movie set, you know. For a work dinner at a Yeongdeungpo bar, I thought this pretty atmosphere made it worth visiting. It is much better than a dreary, not-great, old-man kind of vibe.

The interior is seriously huge, great for a work dinner near Yeongdeungpo Station, with tables lined up in a long row so you can eat comfortably. I really liked the long tables. It seemed like any number of people could come for a work dinner.

Usually, in a narrow place, everyone has to sit separately or push tables together. Here, it is simply one enormous open space.

A quiet private room for two

We sat at a separate table for two. It was prepared as a quiet, separate space like this. Since we said we wanted to eat quietly rather than mingle, they were considerate enough to seat us somewhere nice.

We barely noticed the next table, and the noise level was fine too, yeah. There was plenty of space between tables, so we did not think about it at all. Honestly, we were busy talking about what the two of us had to say anyway.

The atmosphere was very cozy. It would be perfect to rent this whole little section and have just the two of us here, but no, no such greedy thoughts. Let us all live considerately together.

I also thought it would be nice to put up a screen here and watch a movie or baseball. That is how cozy it was, like I said earlier.

Ho Samchon menu and Tomato Hangover Pasta Soup

There were yurin-gi (crispy chicken in a tangy sauce), chili shrimp, carbonara chicken, and boneless fried chicken. The drinking-food menu was nicely balanced across Western, Chinese, and Korean dishes.

There was pasta, sausage, and dry snacks too.

There were Jjapagetti, egg cheese, soft tofu stew, and hangover ramen. They also had crowd-pleasing choices even picky eaters could handle.

They even have Pikachu pork cutlet, a nice little snack?

Jjamppong soup, budae-jjigae (army stew), dakdoritang (spicy braised chicken), jjamppong, and odeng soup.

There are lots of menu items, so order whatever suits you all~

The ₩21,900 Tomato Hangover Pasta Soup. It was pasta simmered like a soup, full of tomato sweetness. It was my first time having pasta like this, and it was so novel.

The restaurant lighting was dark, so I used flash, but I am sad that I still could not take a photo I was happy with ㅠㅠ.

It was loaded with sausage, pasta, bread, shrimp, and tomatoes. It is not food wasteㅠㅠ It only looks like this because of the photo.

Dipping the bread and shrimp into the tomato-sauce broth really brought out the tomato flavor.

Soft tofu stew that is great for a hangover

The soft tofu stew was ₩10,000. Its refreshing heat had that tongue-smacking flavor that is perfect for a hangover. It is the kind of sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew) that makes you definitely finish a bottle of soju even if you are totally drunk.

Lots of people were holding gatherings at this Yeongdeungpo bar, Ho Samchon, and I noticed several tables with multiple soft tofu stews. It seems they are tasty as a side dish.

The sundubu-jjigae was generously packed with clams, egg, and tofu, and it was well worth ₩10,000, yeah. We ate very well.

You can heat it up yourself too.

We each had a bottle of Chamisul and headed home feeling pleasantly warm.

We finished with bead ice cream. It was vanilla and chocolate flavored. If you are having a work dinner at a Yeongdeungpo bar, put Ho Samchon on your list~ It is perfectly spacious for a work dinner. Definitely order a brothy side dish. It is a spicy broth that can help with a hangover too, yeah.
