Sokcho bar for two: spicy stir-fried octopus drinking set at Seo
In short
Seo Jubang is a Korean-style drinking restaurant near the Yeongnang-dong food stall street and Yeongnang Beach in Sokcho. Visiting on a spur-of-the-moment trip with one friend, the writer ordered the Sokcho drinking set for 53,000 won, choosing spicy stir-fried octopus as the main dish and getting abai sundae, golbaengi (sea snail), spicy squid salad and pollock roe potatoes all on one tray. Seo Jubang's drinking set is a good fit for two people who want to sample lots of small dishes at once.

A bar close to Sokcho's food stall street and Yeongnang Beach! A Korean-style drinking restaurant 🍶 We were wondering where to grab a drink in the evening on our Sokcho trip and ended up at Seo Jubang near the stall street! 🌊💙

I feel like I go to Sokcho about once a year. This was a spontaneous trip — we just left after work! And of course, the trip starts with soju~~

We were wondering where to grab a drink in the evening on our Sokcho trip and ended up at Seo Jubang, near the Yeongnang-dong food stall street! When you think of Sokcho, seafood street stalls come to mind first, but ✅this place felt more like a clean, atmospheric Korean-style drinking restaurant than a typical pojangmacha (street tent bar).

The vibe and group seating
Customers kept coming in the whole time we were there, but the atmosphere wasn't too loud or too quiet — perfect for drinking with friends or a partner! The interior is decorated cleanly with a modern feel, and *the ceiling design in particular was so nice. The tables were spaced more generously than I expected, so we could sit comfortably. It also looked like a good spot for group dinners near Sokcho's food stall street.

Sokcho drinking set, ₩53,000, with spicy stir-fried octopus as the main
Seo Jubang's popular Sokcho drinking set is ₩53,000. The side dishes are great, and you get to choose one main — we went with spicy stir-fried octopus!

The basic snack, kkwaja (fried dough twist), and the new soju glasses are so pretty too.

A mini Del Monte water bottle haha. Isn't it just so cute.

What we had this time was the ₩53,000 Sokcho drinking set. You pick one main dish, and it comes with abai sundae (Sokcho-style blood sausage), golbaengi, raw squid salad, and a bunch of small side dishes on one tray — *that day there was no raw squid salad, so they made us squid muchim (seasoned salad) instead, and it was delicious! The food doesn't come out one dish at a time; it's all piled onto one big tray at once, so it's incredibly generous just to look at! The moment it arrived, we were like "whoa, we need to order two more bottles of soju haha" — that kind of visual.
When you're traveling and want to taste a bit of everything, ordering each side dish separately gets pricey and the portions add up. Here, you get to pick and choose from one set, which made it a great spread for two or three people drinking together.
How was the spicy stir-fried octopus?
Bean sprouts ring the edge of the pan, with a generous pile of spicy-seasoned octopus in the middle, topped with perilla leaves and chili peppers — the visual alone is on point. It comes fully cooked, but simmering it gently over low heat and mixing the bean sprouts with the sauce added the chewy texture of the octopus to the crunch of the sprouts, which was great! The seasoning is spicy, fitting for a drinking snack, so naturally you start craving another drink as you eat haha. The bean sprouts especially soaked up just enough sauce while staying crunchy, so we kept picking at them.

Golbaengi, one of my favorites~!

The spicy squid salad that came instead of raw squid salad. The minari (water dropwort) was fragrant and went really well with it!!

And these pollock roe potatoes. This was genuinely delicious. My boyfriend said he loved how the potato and pollock roe worked together, and kept eating it in front of him.
Abai sundae on the same tray
The abai sundae that came together on the tray was great too! When you're visiting Sokcho, you kind of want to try abai sundae at least once, right? It was nice that we could taste it as a drinking snack here without having to go to a separate sundae specialty restaurant. It's fun alternating between a bite of octopus, a bite of sundae, and a bite of seafood! Exactly our style — we prefer picking at a little of everything rather than eating just one dish.

The pickled tomatoes in between were refreshing and cleansed the palate nicely.
The soju kept going down easily. When it's just the two of you, it's actually hard to order a lot of dishes, so it was great that this set let us have a taste of everything~! Seo Jubang's drinking set.

Would it work as a second stop near Yeongnang Beach?
The vibe here is a bit different from your typical tourist-spot pojangmacha. With warm lighting and a clean interior, it's good for drinks on a date and also comfortable for a group conversation. The location is also good for stopping by as a second spot after hanging around Yeongnang Beach or the food stall street!

We cleared every plate neatly -!
When you visit Sokcho, you tend to gravitate toward raw fish restaurants or seafood pojangmacha, but if you want drinks in a slightly different atmosphere — especially if, like us, you enjoy tasting a little of everything — I'd recommend the Sokcho drinking set. There's fun in seeing a big tray loaded with several side dishes, and what I liked most was getting to enjoy everything from spicy octopus to abai sundae to seafood in one sitting. If you're looking for a good-vibe bar or a spot for a group near Sokcho's food stall street, give it a try.
