In short

On a beautiful day, I went out to Gwangjang Market because I wanted to soak up that lively market atmosphere. While browsing the alleys packed with all kinds of food, I found a special dessert! Among the food alley spots people line up for, I found a bakery that is just perfect for gifting. I recommend it to anyone looking for Gwangjang Market eats!

Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul found in a Gwangjang Market alley
This spot with the eye-catching green sign is Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul's Gwangjang Market branch. Even in the market alley, its distinctively fresh green exterior made it easy to spot from afar.

Neat sample box packages were also displayed out front, so I could see the set contents at a glance.

The shelves were styled so tastefully that it felt like I had stepped into a trendy little gift shop~!? The packaging was so clean and polished that it looked great for giving to friends and people around me.

Choco pie and bakery gift-set options
The display case was neatly stocked with all kinds of choco pie bakery treats. This place has actually become well known as an unusual dessert among Gwangjang Market's signature foods!! Each variety had a detailed label, so it was easy to choose according to my taste.

They also sell a well-priced six-piece gift set of scones and cookies, with lovely combinations ranging from Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort scones to Korean soybean tofu chocolate macadamia. Buying the set comes with an extra discount, making it even better value.

A closer look at each choco pie flavor
Sea-breeze mugwort whole red-bean choco pie
The first one to catch my eye was the sea-breeze mugwort whole red-bean choco pie, made with 100% Korean whole red beans. Just looking at the soft chilled fresh cream with sweet whole red beans made my mouth water, haha. Rich mugwort dough and red-bean paste are a combination everyone, young and old, would love!! The gift-box design is luxurious too, making it perfect for older recipients.

Gwangju real chocolate pie
The Gwangju real chocolate pie, sure to satisfy a sweet craving, is another popular item. It is filled with crunchy chocolate chips and soft fresh cream, and its deep chocolate flavor looked ideal when I needed a sugar boost.

Sea-breeze mugwort injeolmi pie
The best-selling sea-breeze mugwort injeolmi pie, with its chewy rice cake, also caught my eye. Korean glutinous-rice cake is generously paired with nutty injeolmi (roasted soybean powder rice cake) fresh cream and soybean powder. If you have an old-fashioned Korean palate... absolutely add the sea-breeze mugwort injeolmi one!!

Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort original
If you love mugwort~! I recommend the Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort original. Its rich mugwort aroma gently spreads through the mouth and blends perfectly with the soft fresh cream. It is not overpowering, and the distinctive fragrant depth of mugwort really comes through, so you can properly enjoy its natural flavor.

Nonsan strawberry choco pie
There was also a Nonsan strawberry choco pie for anyone wanting something refreshing. It is generously filled with sweet-tangy handmade strawberry purée and chilled fresh cream for an extra bright note! The pairing of sweet chocolate cake and tart strawberry jam is beyond words—obviously, it is seriously delicious.

Jeju Udo peanut choco pie
Lastly, I could not leave out the wonderfully nutty Jeju Udo peanut choco pie. It is generously topped with crunchy chopped peanuts, giving it a fantastic bite, while Udo peanuts' distinctive deep nuttiness and sweetness strike a fantastic balance. It is mild and nutty, so it would be lovely alongside coffee too.

When you cannot decide, choose the assorted six-piece set
Not sure which one to pick? This set, which lets you pack a nice variety of every flavor into one box, was such a great option. The box itself is sturdy and clean, making it just right for gift wrapping. When you are torn over which flavor to choose, this assorted six-piece set is the best choice.

After much deliberation, I chose the generously filled set and had it carefully packed!! Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul, which I found while exploring Gwangjang Market's food spots, is simply excellent for gifting too. Be sure to add Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul to your list of distinctive Gwangjang Market foods and stop by.
