Jongno sushi restaurant with tempura: Choe Uyeong Sushiya
In short
Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch is a Japanese restaurant on B1 of Tower 8 between Jonggak and Gwanghwamun Stations in Jongno, Seoul. I had a 17-piece premium sushi set, extra favorite pieces, and shrimp and sweet-potato tempura, with the varied selection and speedy service standing out. Verdict: a great stop when you want a filling spread of many kinds of sushi.

Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch, between Jonggak and Gwanghwamun Stations
As a sushi-loving human, I went out for sushi. Sushi is delicious, but it is hard to eat your fill because of the price... (sob sob) But I think this place makes it possible!! At Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch, you can get good-value sushi priced at ₩1,000–₩3,000 per piece.!!

Choe Uyeong Sushiya is on B1. It sits between Jonggak and Gwanghwamun Stations, so I had a feeling lots of office workers visit!!

Choe Uyeong Sushiya is on B1 of Tower 8! I came from the Gran Seoul side and took the elevator right away, so I spotted Choe Uyeong Sushiya as soon as I got off!!

A varied menu, from sushi to kaisendon
True to a good-value spot, à la carte sashimi starts at ₩10,000, assorted sushi at ₩13,000, assorted tempura is ₩13,000, and inari udon starts at ₩5,000.! Sushi restaurants often sell only sushi or sashimi, but unusually, they also had kaisendon (a seafood rice bowl). Honestly, I debated getting the kaisendon..

Just look at all those menu options.!! Choe Uyeong Sushiya has such a huge variety.! From sashimi to sushi sets, individual sushi pieces, and kaisendon. A sushi restaurant has to sell tempura too, right? Choe Uyeong Sushiya gets my approval,,
An interior that worked for solo diners and groups
Inside

Choe Uyeong Sushiya was so spacious. There were solo-dining seats that are great for people eating alone, wide tables that can easily take groups, and lots of tables for four, so it is good no matter who you come with~~

Each seat had a tablet and side dishes~,,

I got a little greedy. Since it was such good value, I loaded up on what I wanted and what I love.

They gave us savory, salty clear soup and wasabi.!!

What I consider a key point: Choe Uyeong Seafood's homemade soy sauce. Wasn't Sempio the name you thought of for soy sauce? Homemade soy sauce, seriously,, simply the best,,
A 17-piece premium sushi set and extra pieces
FOOD

The premium sushi set arrived.! It felt like a combination of the ₩3,000 sushi options on the menu: fin meat, sea urchin roe with shrimp, egg sushi, abalone, eel, gunkan sushi, tuna, crab meat, monkfish liver with squid sushi, and more.

The colors looked incredible. A single plate had kinds of sushi that might not all be included in a set elsewhere, so I was like, wow, this is the best value,, all these kinds at this price.? It really felt that way..!

Extra pieces of sushi that I ordered because I like them.

This place is so generous.. Usually a ₩2,000 Coke Zero comes in a chubby can, but here they give you a PET bottle. No way, no way.

There was not really any wasabi already in the sushi, so you can customize it yourself!!

I'll try the Korean beef. Hi-yah!!

Even giant sweet-potato tempura
The tempura arrived too. My favorite shrimp and sweet-potato tempura, haha. This kind place even gives you scissors and tongs.!

I was especially surprised by how huge the sweet potato was. And the batter was completely Japanese-style (it is a Japanese restaurant after all lol). I had over ₩44,000 worth of sushi at Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch, and the seafood-rich fish went so deliciously with the sushi rice. The food came quickly too, so I think it would be great even at weekday lunchtime. When you are at work, you get pissed off, so I thought it would be nice to eat something delicious and work hard again in the afternoon!!
