I was looking for a good spot in Sinchon to grab drinks and tasty anju (Korean drinking snacks) with friends, so I went to Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Sinchon Branch!!!

The signature menu, hanwoo gopdoritang, is insane. It's generous in portion and tastes great — if you're stuck on what to order, just get this!!

Drinks are on the cheap side too, so it's a good place for a second or third round on Sinchon's youth street, and with such a variety of tasty anju it seemed like a solid spot for group gatherings as well.

Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Sinchon Branch is at 26 Yeonse-ro 7-gil, 2nd floor, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. It's a bar located on Sinchon's Yeonse-ro, and being so close to Sinchon Station made it easy to arrange a meetup with friends!

It's open daily from 16:30 to 01:00 the next day, and until 03:00 on Fridays and Saturdays! Open till late, good…

The inside of Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Sinchon Branch is totally retro, so the concept really comes through. That old-school pojangmacha (street tent bar) concept, ㅠㅠ

It's the kind of interior that makes the drinks go down even easier haha

There's also a big TV in the middle, so it'd be fun to watch a baseball or soccer game together with everyone!!

There are also private rooms in the store, great for small gatherings, while the hall works well even for bigger group dinners!!!

After sitting down, the first thing I drank was the Terra Cream draft beer. It was so, so, so good.

Cold draft beer really does hit the spot on a hot day ㅜㅜ It was so refreshing and smooth. And it's only ₩2,900…

The dish I was most looking forward to that day was the hanwoo gopdoritang!!!!!! It's made with hanwoo beef tripe and chicken together, so it seems great for sharing with a group!!!! I was seriously so full ㅠㅠ

It's especially the kind of dish that pairs perfectly with drinks… the broth was nice and spicy too. Lots of gop (beef tripe) in it, plus daechang (large intestine), chicken, and glass noodles… if you like this kind of thing, just go ahead and order it ㅜ!!! They say it's the original in Seoul!!!

There were plenty of vegetables too!!!! My friend and I kept saying wow this is really good while eating haha ㅋㅋㅋ the flavor gets richer the longer it simmers..

One order is a big portion, so it's great when you're visiting with several people!!! I wanted to try other menu items too but couldn't fit them in ㅜ

Ending the night with kkakdugi fried rice

Of course you have to finish with kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice…

Once you've worked through the stew a bit, order the kkakdugi fried rice!! With a dish like this, finishing off with fried rice at the end just feels like the proper way to do it.

The crunchy texture of the kkakdugi went so well with the spicy, rich flavor of the gopdoritang, so even though I was already pretty full, I kept reaching for more.

After finishing the kkakdugi fried rice too, I felt like I'd had a really solid meal haha
