You guys know solo bars are super hot with young people these days, right?~~~~ Sometimes you just want to meet new people and quietly have a drink while chatting, and this time I found a really great-vibe solo bar in Hongdae, so I went and checked it out!

The place I went to is Tipsy Couch, located in Yeonnam-dong.

Where is Tipsy Couch, and how do you find the entrance?
Tipsy Couch is on the 4th floor, Unit 1, of a building at 28 Yeonhui-ro 1-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Heads up — there's no elevator, so you have to climb the stairs all the way to the 4th floor!
Keep going up the stairs to the 4th floor~

There's a cute doorbell haha, don't be scared, just press it~~~~

Why, you ask??? Because once you step inside, the vibe is genuinely insane... an atmosphere and music you'll absolutely never regret... even the view is perfect

I've always been into solo bars, but this place felt completely different from a typical bar from the moment I walked in.
From the second I entered, I just kept thinking, this vibe is insane. I immediately understood why it's become such a word-of-mouth spot for solo bars in Seoul.

House-party interior and music at Tipsy Couch
The inside of Tipsy Couch isn't decorated like a typical bar — it feels more like a house party at a friend's place. This was my first time at a bar with this kind of vibe, so I got a little excited the moment I walked in hahahaha. This is definitely a style women would love~
The music was so good too. The house music playing through the speakers made the atmosphere feel even more stylish. It wasn't too loud either — just the right volume for talking, which actually made the vibe even better.
The ceiling height is a whopping 4m, so the space feels really open, with zero stuffy feeling. You can probably feel that just from the photos, right?
With the soft lighting and stylish interior on top of that, photos look great no matter where you take them. It really made me think Yeonnam-dong solo bars have a different kind of vibe altogether. And what I liked most was how unique the seating setup was!

Six seating concepts and the terrace
When you think 'bar,' you usually think of just a bar table, but Tipsy Couch has a whopping six different seating concepts. Bar seats, a table area, two sofa zones, bed seats, and even 'friend seats' great for sitting with a group! Being able to choose the mood that fits your taste was such a cool touch.
- Bar seats
- Table seats
- 2 sofa areas
- Bed seats
- 'Friend seats' good for sitting with a group

The sofa seats especially were so comfortable it felt like chatting in a friend's living room. The bed seats had such a distinctive vibe too — I feel like you could lose track of time talking there.

If the weather's nice, definitely try the terrace too! The terrace atmosphere was so cool, perfect for a drink with a cool breeze. Personally, this space is what made it one of the most memorable Hongdae solo bars for me.

First time drinking alone at a bar — is it awkward?
I think the biggest charm of Tipsy Couch might actually be the customers? A lot of people who are new to solo bars worry the vibe might be awkward or too much pressure, but here, you don't need to worry about that at all. The crowd itself had a really good energy. Overall, most people had great attitude and manners, so even on my first visit I could chat comfortably.
I get why this place keeps showing up on Seoul solo bar recommendation lists. What I liked most of all was how well the venue itself manages the atmosphere. The owner was incredibly kind and did a great job leading and keeping an eye on the vibe of the whole place, so the mood was seriously great!!!!
Thanks to that, even first-timers could chat with new people without any pressure. Personally, this was the part I was most satisfied with. If you assumed a solo bar means loud and chaotic, Tipsy Couch is completely different! Apparently the owner arranges seating by considering guests' age, gender, and language.
Because of that, it felt like the atmosphere naturally made it easy to strike up conversations even with people you'd just met. You could also move seats depending on the situation, so instead of talking to just one person, you could comfortably talk to several people — I really liked that too.

Here's the menu~!

This is how the menu is set up, so keep that in mind!!!!
Getting a bit tipsy on the vibes, so here's one more video haha

So stylish~~~

As time went on, it was really nice seeing people naturally chatting and laughing, and I felt like I understood why so many people recommend it as a Yeonnam-dong solo bar. It's a place where you won't feel awkward going alone, it's fun with friends, and you can comfortably chat with new people!!!!!
Creating this kind of atmosphere isn't easy at all, but Tipsy Couch really pulled it off. The vibe among the guests especially was so good that I wanted to come back more for the people than for the drinks.

What time should you arrive on a Friday?
When I arrived right at opening on a Friday, there were only about 5-6 people. After about an hour, it filled up, and after about 2 hours, it was completely packed!!! If you're planning to visit on a Friday, I recommend getting there within an hour of opening@@!!

And when the drinks turn out to be delicious too, what am I supposed to do haha. Already made myself a regular booking, hehe. If you're looking for a great-vibe solo bar in Hongdae, or a Seoul solo bar where you can comfortably talk to new people, I really recommend visiting Tipsy Couch once~!
Once you visit, you'll immediately understand why people keep coming back. Personally, this was such a satisfying Yeonnam-dong solo bar that I think I'll be visiting often from now on. 💛
