(It's a place that uses potato wraps instead of ordinary lettuce wraps.)

There is a waiting area right in front of the restaurant, and you can reserve in advance through Naver booking.

The inside is clean because the restaurant opened only recently. I went in right away at 5 pm on a weekday with my parents, haha.

The reservation system works well, and here you can see the restaurant setting out the basic side dishes to match the guests who had already booked~

The layout lets you see into the kitchen from inside the restaurant, so guests can watch the food and ingredients being prepared.

It hasn't been open long among Dongdaegu Station restaurants, but word has spread about its tasty grilled daechang and tripe, and customers have quickly started to come. (You can see how many guests come knowing exactly what they want.)

What's on the Hubaldae menu, and how do you order?

Hubaldae has no kiosk. You look at the menu and tell the staff what you want.

Hubaldae Dongdaegu Station Branch has pork neck and pork belly from domestic 1+ grade pigs raised on yellow clay, haha. The two main dishes are hanwoo daechang BBQ and New Zealand tripe BBQ, haha. For sides, there are the special ramen and special fried rice, which go so well with the meat that I think they're must-orders, haha. (I totally recommend both sides!!!)

I heard Hubaldae started in Seomyeon, Busan, in 2010, and has stayed popular and kept growing as a daechang BBQ and potato wrap place.

That day we ordered 2 servings of daechang, 4 servings of pork neck, the special ramen and one bottle of Terra (beer).

How were the hanwoo daechang and pork neck with my parents?

We started with 2 servings of daechang and 2 servings of pork neck, 4 servings in all for me and my parents.

The side dishes at Hubaldae Dongdaegu Station Branch include myeongi-namul (pickled wild garlic-like greens), kimchi jjageuri (a thick kimchi stew), pa-geotjeori (fresh scallion salad), basil, angelica leaves, dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth, potato wraps and more.

Because the staff grill the meat for you, it comes juicy, and both the daechang and the pork neck were grilled at exactly the right moment. Honestly, I could hardly wait to dig in~

Before we started on the meat, the three of us each had a glass of beer.

The best potato wrap combo at Hubaldae

When you start eating at Hubaldae, a staff member first places the meat and explains how to eat it. It's a perfect combination, so I recommend remembering it and making it yourself the whole meal.

Scallion salad + potato wrap + myeongi-namul + kimchi + basil + wasabi, and finally the meat on top.

The meat is also totally delicious without any wrap, so make a combination to suit your own taste~

Is the Hubaldae special ramen worth ordering?

I recommend the special ramen as a must-order, because it goes so well with the daechang and pork neck. It's ramen made separately, it pairs nicely with the meat, and it's the best with a drink~

Both my parents liked it so much that they ate more meat than usual, and we ordered 2 extra servings of pork neck~

Watching my parents eat so happily, I felt glad we had come to Hubaldae Dongdaegu Station Branch for dinner.
