I first went to Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch maybe 1-2 years ago, not long after it opened. Back then, being a new place, I wondered how the taste would be — but oh, it turned out to be the best lamb skewers I'd had in years, and I thought I'd have to come back here next time I craved lamb skewers. This time too, I figured getting some energy back with lamb wouldn't hurt, so~ I revisited.

How long is the wait at Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch? 3 minutes on a Friday evening

The wait at Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch on this Friday evening visit was just one party ahead, about 3 minutes. On a Saturday evening it'd probably be around 3 minutes too, I'd guess? Based on my first visit and just passing by this area, this place has always had a lot of people, so this time I braced myself for maybe a 20-minute wait.

But huh~ luckily, there was only one party ahead of us that day, so we got to walk in after a super short 3-minute wait!! And to a nice, breezy window seat too haha

What comes with the meal: side dishes and 4 powdered sauces

The table setting at Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch was set up like this. Radish pickled in yuzu sauce, another version of pickled radish in danmuji style, jalapeños, and simple peanuts as a snack! Plus water and four types of powder sauce, including salt, for dipping the lamb skewers and lamb meat haha

The salt came in its own powder container, and the chwallyo(?), curry, and cumin sauces came in a 3-piece set of containers. You just open the lids and scoop as much as you want onto your own small plate!

And the lamb-skewer-only grill, already heated up!

Ordering by table screen: 2 servings of wangkkochi plus the 20-a-day lamb sirloin skewers

Ordering at Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch was via table-order screen! As I scrolled through image after image on the screen, I learned that even for the same one serving of lamb skewers, the portion weight here is higher than at other places, and there were various promotions and events too.

So, what to order... I went with the best-seller menu: 2 servings of wangkkochi (jumbo lamb skewers) and 1 serving of lamb sirloin skewers!! Apparently the lamb sirloin skewers are limited edition — only 20 servings a day.

This place has good turnover, so the lamb skewers came out almost right away. As mentioned, the grill was already lit and heated, so all you have to do is grill and eat right away. No long waits at this Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch of ours haha

How do Yangbokjeom's lamb skewers taste one to two years on?

Yangbokjeom's lamb skewers are delicious today too... My impression from the first visit was so good that it actually crossed my mind every once in a while, and here I am eating it again haha. Exactly the same taste as back then, and the same satisfaction from it.

Ah, one thing that's a bit different(?) — on my first visit, since it was probably early days after opening, the owner was doing the serving. Now it seems like staff are working too, maybe because more customers have come as more people like me got hooked on the taste!

Anyway, back to the taste of the lamb skewers.. Personally I don't go in expecting that strong, distinctive gamey lamb smell or heavy meat aroma, but I appreciated that it's not salty and not overly gamey, so even a beginner could easily enjoy it — clean and mild. So tender that even if you wanted to savor it slowly, it was already melting in your mouth.

Finishing with egg fried rice and somaek (soju-beer)

Craving some carbs, so I ordered this too!! Egg fried rice. I think I ordered this on my last visit too? Next time I should try the black quabaorou or the ongmyeon (corn noodles) — personally curious about that corn-noodle dish too.

Fluffy, separated rice grains you could never, ever replicate on a home induction stove, with just the right amount of oil coating every grain haha. Naturally I inhaled it all while mixing up some soju-beer, and even some straight soju~

Nicely cleared out! Personally, I find the lamb skewers at Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch exceptionally delicious among the options near Dongdaegu Station, so whenever I crave lamb skewers or lamb meat again, this is the place I'll come straight back to haha
