Raw beef restaurant by Dongdaegu Station: mungtigi and odeuregi set

In short

Haepumsosaeng Gogi is a mungtigi (thick-cut raw beef) and raw beef restaurant in Sincheon-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu, sitting at the far end of the Dongdaegu Station food alley, a 10-minute walk from the KTX station. The order was the raw beef 200g + odeuregi 200g set, which brought the springy, sticky texture of same-day butchered beef alongside a first taste of odeuregi, plus a table full of banchan including seaweed soup, pajeon (savoury pancake), tteokbokki and old-style sausage. Haepumsosaeng Gogi makes an easy final meal in Daegu before a train home.

If you're traveling Daegu by KTX, make sure you have dinner near Dongdaegu Station! It's super convenient for timing your train, and there are tons of good restaurants and pretty cafés around Sincheon-dong to plan your itinerary around. Today, if you're looking for mungtigi (Korean-style raw beef tartare) near Dongdaegu Station, I want to recommend "Haepumsosaeng Gogi."

Where is Haepumsosaeng Gogi, and what is the dining room like?

Haepumsosaeng Gogi sits at the tail end of the Dongdaegu Station food alley. It's about a 10-minute walk from the KTX station, making it great for eating while you wait for your train.

The interior was clean overall with a wood-tone theme. The tables were spaced far apart, so it felt comfortable to use.

Seeing all the celebrity autographs on the walls, this really must be a genuine Sincheon-dong local favorite! I went at opening, but by dinnertime, not just travelers but plenty of neighborhood locals showed up too — that's when I knew this place was the real deal.

Can you get same-day butchered raw beef on a Saturday?

A place in Daegu where you can get Saturday mungtigi! Haepumsosaeng Gogi has same-day butchered raw beef available even on Saturdays.

Since freshness matters most with raw beef, this is a place that prioritizes hygiene and safety above all. I could feel their pride in that, and it was reassuring.

Haepumsosaeng Gogi menu and the set ordered

Here's the menu at Haepumsosaeng Gogi, a great spot for mungtigi near Dongdaegu Station. Raw beef, yukhoe (beef tartare), yuk-sashimi, and you can even try odeuregi as part of a set menu — lots of options.

I ordered the set menu: raw beef 200g + odeuregi 200g. It was my first time ever trying odeuregi!!!!!!! Let me tell you how it was.

Banchan at Haepumsosaeng Gogi: a full table worth a bottle of soju

Haepumsosaeng Gogi, the mungtigi specialist near Dongdaegu Station, is satisfying from the banchan (side dishes) alone. Before the main dishes even arrive, you already get enough delicious, varied side dishes to go through more than a bottle of soju.

The old-style sausage and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) alone would already be a generous snack plate...♡♥ I'd filled up lightly on street food for lunch during my Daegu trip, so I was hungry, and eating this I thought, wow, Daegu hospitality is amazing!!

There's also cheonyeop (beef tripe) and what looked like braised beef among the side dishes. Truly a generous mungtigi restaurant near Dongdaegu Station.

How does the raw beef 200g + odeuregi 200g set taste?

The main dish, raw beef 200g + odeuregi 200g, arrived. The color was seriously incredible!!!!!! If I'd only ordered the raw beef, I was planning to do the whole flip-the-plate performance, but because of the odeuregi I couldn't pull that off. That's how chewy, fresh, and delicious it was!!

They also serve chodaeri-bap (vinegared rice for making hand-rolled sushi) that you can make into sushi, along with a delicious mungtigi sauce.

I highly recommend this set menu. You get to eat raw beef and cooked beef together, so you don't get tired of it, and you can try a variety of dishes — very satisfying.

The color of the mungtigi at Haepumsosaeng Gogi near Dongdaegu Station... it's really chewy and clings right to your mouth.

I'm someone who thinks the sauce is crucial for yukhoe or raw beef, and personally, the sauce at Haepumsosaeng Gogi was so good I wanted to ask them for the ratio.

Odeuregi for the first time: what is the texture like?

And this was my first time trying odeuregi. Now I've found another food that's totally my style... it has a unique texture but honestly, it's really delicious. It comes with grilled beef too, and that combination is a real treat.

If you're looking for a final meal to wrap up your Daegu trip, I really recommend Haepumsosaeng Gogi, the truly delicious mungtigi spot in Sincheon-dong.
