Lunch visit to Kosi near Konkuk University Station

I revisited Kosi (코시), a popular Konkuk University-area restaurant I had been meaning to return to after being so satisfied the first time. This time, I stopped by around 1 p.m. for lunch. Just like on my previous visit, the restaurant was packed with guests! Its popularity is still seriously impressive.
Parking and reservation information

You can use the parking spaces right in front of the restaurant or the lot behind the building, with one hour of free parking. Being able to park right away in busy Konkuk University area is one of Kosi's biggest advantages. If you are looking for a restaurant with parking around Konkuk University, Kosi is perfect.
Reservations are available for parties of four or more. If you are coming with a group, I recommend booking ahead!
A comfortable setting for solo dining

Kosi, known for appearing on SBS's Master of Living and as actor Kim Seung-soo's pick, specializes in Sanuki-style house-made udon aged for 48 hours and handmade pork cutlets.

The interior is clean and fairly spacious, but it was full of guests at lunchtime, so I could not take detailed photos inside. There are also well-arranged counter seats, so people who came to eat alone around Konkuk University were dining comfortably without any fuss. It is a great place to visit when you want to enjoy a delicious meal alone without feeling self-conscious.
Ordering from the kiosk

Since orders are placed through a kiosk, I could not capture the entire menu, but there were a few more options than shown on the menu boards above.
Bukkake udon and half-and-half katsu
What we ordered
- Gamatten bukkake udon ₩11,000
- Half-and-half katsu ₩13,000
- Mozzarella croquettes, 3 pieces ₩6,000
- Draft beer, 300 ml ₩3,000
Kosi is known for both its house-made udon and tonkatsu (Japanese pork cutlet), so we ordered one bukkake udon and one half-and-half katsu.

Tempura bukkake udon set
Bukkake udon is cold udon served with chilled tsuyu dipping sauce, with wonderfully chewy noodles.

One bite and, of course...! You immediately understand why Kosi is famous for udon. I think chewiness is the heart of cold udon, and these noodles were so dense and chewwwy! They had such a bouncy texture, and the gentle sweetness and saltiness of the tsuyu made them deeply savory.

You might start craving a little rice too, so I loved that the à la carte dish came with inari sushi (seasoned tofu-pouch sushi).

The additional mozzarella croquettes were also perfect as a side, pairing the nutty richness of cheese with a crisp fried coating.

Half-and-half katsu
This dish lets you enjoy both a thick fresh pork-loin cutlet and a cheese katsu packed with wonderfully nutty cheese.

A lot of cheese cutlets get overly rich and tiring quickly if you order the wrong one, but this one was full of cheese while still tasting nutty, with plenty of meat too.

The pork-loin cutlet was exactly what you want: crispy outside and juicy inside. Kosi does both udon and fried food so well...! It is really hard to choose just one menu item, haha.
A satisfying Konkuk University lunch, even on a return visit
Kosi Konkuk University Branch was still delicious even after returning for another visit. The convenient parking made it even better :) If you are looking for a comfortable place to dine alone around Konkuk University, or wondering what to have for lunch, run to Kosi for both chewy house-made udon and crispy pork cutlets~~!
