Why we swapped weekend camping for Bueokgan Restaurant Oslo Park in Yangsan
No camping today. We usually go camping every weekend, but even though the weather was gorgeous, my husband has a business trip tomorrow, so instead of camping we went out to catch Pokémon.
My 7-year-old is hooked on Pokémon GO — already obsessed with games, what can you do. I wanted to go to Bueokgan Restaurant in Yangsan, so today's destination was Yangsan. Here's my review of Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch, a great Western restaurant in Gyeongnam Yangsan to go to with kids.

Easy with kids: arrive at 11:00 opening and skip the wait
It's a kid-friendly restaurant, so it's really nice to bring my kid along. I feel more comfortable eating when there are other kids around too. There are a lot of families here. We did an opening run, so we got seated without any wait.
Café-style interior at Bueokgan: birthdays and family meals
The interior is so pretty and upscale, it would be nice for a birthday or family dinner too. The vintage furniture is pretty and the high ceilings give it an open, airy feel. Photos come out great too — it's a restaurant that feels like a café.
I heard this is the pasta and gnocchi spot most moms raising kids in Yangsan go to. Dropping the kids off at kindergarten and then coming to Bueokgan for a nice meal sounds even better, doesn't it?
It's known as a Western restaurant in Gyeongnam Yangsan, and also famous as a brunch café near Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital. They say it gets a bit busy during lunch and dinner hours.
What we ordered: vongole pasta, sweet potato fries and one more dish
I came for pasta today, and we also ordered sweet potato fries which my daughter loves, and decided to add one more dish she likes too — or wait, is it my son? Anyway my husband eats everything except shrimp, so it's easy to order for him.
We looked around at the interior while waiting for our order. My kid said she loved it here too. She's not a big eater usually, so I was even more excited about this Yangsan pasta spot.
It came out looking beautiful. Since everything is cooked fresh after ordering, it tastes even better eaten right away, and the plating is so pretty it's totally Instagram-worthy. I always say I'm dieting but I always end up just taking food photos, lol — that's me. But it's the weekend, so this counts as a cheat day, right?
How big the vongole pasta is and how the clam broth sauce tastes
The pasta is delicious. The sauce is great, the noodles are great, and the portion is just right for one person per bowl. Since Korean dining culture is about sharing, it's nice being able to order a variety of dishes, right?
The sauce is so good you end up scraping the plate clean. I heard Bueokgan branches are popping up everywhere lately, and this Yangsan location is apparently their 18th. I really wish one would open in my neighborhood too!
Sweet potato fries at Bueokgan: a must-order with kids
My daughter loves regular fries, so I ordered sweet potato fries for her and she really enjoyed them. They're much crispier and tastier than regular potato fries. If you have kids, sweet potato fries are basically a must-order. My sweet-potato-loving husband also ate them happily.
I wanted to get salad but the men in my family vetoed it — the salad looked so good, though. Next time I'm definitely trying it.
Vongole pasta and sous vide chicken thigh: the verdict
The vongole pasta had an amazing clam broth, and the sous vide chicken thigh was so tender and delicious. It's like samgyetang (whole chicken soup) but not — just soft, tender chicken thigh. ♥
Great vibe for a family meal, and the food and music were both good. Highly recommend Bueokgan, a great Western restaurant in Gyeongnam Yangsan.
