In short
Damso Main Branch is a Korean beef restaurant in Yangsan, Gyeongnam. We visited with our two children and ordered Assortment A, Assortment B, and extra upjinsal, finishing with doenjang stew. Damso Main Branch is a great family dining pick for tasting several cuts at once.

When I’m craving really good Korean beef in Yangsan, Damso Main Branch is a place that comes to mind, so I went for a visit. There are so many great barbecue restaurants these days, but with Korean beef, the quality of the meat itself really matters, right? Damso specializes in Korean beef and special cuts in Yangsan, so I’d been curious about it for a while and finally tried it myself.

It’s located around Seoksan Food Town, and the parking garage on basement levels 1 and 2 is spacious, so there’s no need to worry about parking. After visiting, I also felt it had a great atmosphere for a family meal or a gathering, so it would be a nice choice when you’re looking for a dinner spot.

A private-room atmosphere that was great with kids
The exterior and entrance were clean and upscale from the start. It was a good place for a family meal, and also a lovely fit for chatting with friends over delicious Korean beef.
Once inside, everything felt neatly maintained. All of the seating is in private rooms, so the atmosphere was relatively calm and made it easy to focus on the meal. It also felt suitable for family gatherings or formal family introductions, so I thought it would be nice for Korean beef on a special day. Rather than the usual bustling barbecue-restaurant vibe, it felt a little more relaxed for dining. Since we brought our two kids, things were a bit hectic, so I only photographed our room. We had reserved ahead, and it was all set up for us.

Even the neat spread of basic side dishes made us feel well looked after.

Ordering Assortments A and B, plus upjinsal
Damso’s menu has a wide selection, from Korean beef assortments and special cuts to yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and yuk sashimi (thinly sliced raw beef).

The main options include Assortment A, which lets you enjoy special cuts and sirloin together, and Assortment B, which focuses on special cuts. You can also order individual cuts such as tenderloin, outside skirt, salchisal, tosisal, and sirloin, so Korean beef lovers can choose according to their tastes. We loved the upjinsal so much that I asked the owner about it, and he said it was available to order separately. It was 200g for ₩60,000.

There is yukhoe and yuk sashimi too, nice for a light accompaniment before the grilled meat, while meal options include Korean beef doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), doenjang ramen, and naengmyeon (cold noodles). Assortment A is 200g for ₩50,000, Assortment B is 200g for ₩55,000, and yukhoe and yuk sashimi are ₩30,000 each. Korean beef doenjang stew, doenjang ramen, and naengmyeon are ₩7,000 each.
We ordered Assortment A, Assortment B, two bowls of rice, one doenjang stew, and an extra 200g of upjinsal. When we ordered beer, the owner also gave us a little yukhoe on the house—for a drinking snack 😆 You have to love that kind of thoughtfulness.

The yukhoe was so sweet and tangy; it really got our appetites going.

Korean beef textures that differed by cut
When the meat finally arrived, Korean beef really did look different from the very first glance.

As we put the meat on the grill, its savory aroma rose up and properly whetted our appetites.

The special cuts in particular each had slightly different textures and flavors, so we kept saying, “This is really delicious,” with every bite. My husband’s pick was the upjinsal. We browned the outside without overcooking the inside, keeping the juices intact, and could really taste its tender texture and the distinctive savory beef aroma of Korean beef.

It was delicious lightly dipped in salt, and it also paired well with the side dishes and jangajji (pickled vegetables).
I think Korean beef is best when you can taste the meat itself, and Damso was perfect for enjoying it that way. They also bring vegetables to grill on the side, and the potatoes are the real highlight!!

Can potatoes be this delicious...
Finishing with a doenjang dish
Eating only meat for a while can start to feel a little rich, and at times like that, a spoonful of doenjang ramen or doenjang stew would make such a great combination.

With its hearty, deep-tasting broth, it was the perfect dish to finish after the meat.
I loved the way each grilled bite chewed so tenderly before releasing that savory beef aroma, and there was definitely the satisfaction of knowing we had eaten good meat. If you’re looking for a Korean beef restaurant in Yangsan for a family meal or a special day, Damso Main Branch would be well worth a visit. Personally, I thought the assortment menu, which lets you taste several cuts at once, was the best choice for experiencing Damso’s appeal. If you want to enjoy delicious Korean beef in a clean, pleasant setting, Yangsan’s Damso is one I’m planning to visit again.
