Why we chose Nocheongol in Bupyeong for a family dinner

I visited Nocheongol for a family meal — it's right in front of Bupyeong Market Station, so it's visible after about a 5-minute walk, and the atmosphere is so nice for dining with family that I decided to bring everyone here for a meal we hadn't had together in a while!

It's such a popular spot that there's usually a long wait, and you can also book through Catch Table. I reserved ahead of time, so I could go straight in haha.

Inside Nocheongol: the dining room and the menu

The inside was quite spacious. It splits into two sides, left and right, and that day I ended up eating on the right side! Since I'd reserved for four ahead of time, they'd already held a table for us, so we could go right in, haha.

The menu was really varied. But of course the best menu here at Nocheongol has to be the meat lol. The beef ribs are delicious and the pork ribs are delicious too, so we ordered two servings of Suwon-style woodae galbi, two servings of Korean pork seasoned galbi, naengmyeon, and doenjang jjigae!

Side dishes and extras that go with Nocheongol's galbi

They set out this many basic side dishes — a separate sauce, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), seasoned crab, kimchi, salad, garlic scapes, carrots, jellyfish salad, and so many more! With fresh vegetables and banchan like this, it was really great to eat alongside the galbi, lol.

They were running a draft beer 2+1 promotion right then! We ordered without hesitation, lol.

We also ordered the doenjang jjigae, and wow, this was genuinely amazing. It was surprisingly delicious and I was shocked, lol. I thought it would be pretty bland, but no — it was savory and packed full of doenjang aroma, really delicious. I definitely recommend ordering this as a side, lol.

Ah, can't skip the mul naengmyeon, lol. The thin noodles really pair well with the meat, and the cool broth is perfect for summer! You'd regret not ordering the naengmyeon, lol.

Tasting the Suwon-style woodae galbi and Korean pork seasoned galbi

The woodae galbi came out first, and the color alone said 'I'm Hanwoo (Korean beef)~~', lol. Doesn't it look incredibly delicious? Ugh.

What made it even better for a family meal was that the staff grilled the meat for us! It's more comfortable to just talk, and you don't have to work at grilling the meat yourself. They grilled it for us from start to finish, so it was really easy to enjoy.

Isn't the color amazing? Ugh. They carefully grilled each piece of the tender beef rib one by one.

Ta-da, this is the woodae galbi, lol. I think this was my first time trying woodae galbi! It was really so tender and nutty and delicious. It's definitely Hanwoo, so the nuttiness is on another level.

The seasoning wasn't too sweet or too salty, just right, so dipping it in the accompanying sauce made it savory, salty, and sweet all at once — so delicious, ugh. Honestly the meat is so good that I'd recommend enjoying the original flavor of this idong galbi rather than pairing it with other things, lol.

They grilled the Korean pork seasoned galbi for us too! This was noticeably lighter in color than the beef ribs! They grilled this pork galbi all the way through for us as well, lol. I wondered whether the pork ribs could really compare after eating the beef ribs, but no — this was delicious too!?

Maybe because it's a place that's already great at galbi, the pork galbi was really delicious too. Even after eating the beef ribs first, I could still enjoy it fully, lol. I was surprised, lol.

Is Nocheongol a good spot for family meals and group dinners?

Honestly, it's often hard to decide where to go for a family meal or a gathering. The price isn't too heavy on the wallet, and being able to enjoy Hanwoo at this price with this level of service felt really great, lol. This was our first time bringing the family to Nocheongol for a meal, and both my mom and dad loved it! We left really full and satisfied, haha. Nocheongol truly lived up to its reputation as a galbi and meat spot — the ribs were genuinely tender and delicious. It was also great that the staff grilled the meat perfectly from start to finish, so we could just relax, and the side dishes, which apparently change regularly, were tasty every time, lol. Overall the prices weren't too expensive either, so I thought it was a really reasonable way to enjoy delicious meat! Great atmosphere and great taste for friends, gatherings, or family meals — I fully recommend it, haha.
