Sunhuine Bindaetteok Dak Hanmari Dongdaemun (순희네빈대떡 닭한마리 동대문본점) is a dak hanmari (whole chicken hot pot) restaurant on Jongno 40-ga-gil near Dongdaemun General Market. I went shopping in Dongdaemun and ended up having dak hanmari for lunch haha. Dongdaemun is so famous for dak hanmari, so I searched around and picked this place! I went around noon while I was out looking around Dongdaemun, and it wasn't crowded at all — perfect timing.

I was debating what to eat for lunch, and I think choosing dak hanmari was the right call haha. Dongdaemun means dak hanmari, right? The hot broth is loaded with chicken, potatoes and rice cakes, so it's great for sharing with a group, and also perfect as a lunch dish haha. My friend and I finished the whole pot together. We both had a bit of a cold coming on, and drinking that hot broth really seemed to knock it right out haha. Sunhuine Bindaetteok Dak Hanmari Dongdaemun is seriously delicious.

How is the dak hanmari dipping sauce, and what gets refilled?

The real specialty of dak hanmari is the dipping sauce! It's delicious even just dipped in the broth, but dak hanmari really shines dipped in the sauce. Dip the chicken into the tangy, spicy sauce and the mild chicken flavor blends with the sauce into a whole other taste. Personally the sauce was so good I kept dipping the chicken in it over and over. 😂 We kept getting free refills of cabbage and green onion haha.

The potatoes were also cooked soft and fluffy, great alongside the chicken haha, and the mushrooms went so well with the broth that I kept reaching for them.
