My hair had grown quite long, and my previous down perm had nearly loosened, leaving the sides and back sticking out. The longer hair was uncomfortable in the hot weather, so this time I looked for a men’s barbershop.

I visited Divers Barbershop Gangnam-gu Office Station Branch (다이버스 바버샵 강남구청역점), which is close to Gangnam-gu Office Station and caught my eye with its atmosphere.

What are the hours and parking support?
The shop is at 342 Hakdong-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea, B1, Unit 107, SK Hub Blue. At the time of the original post, it was open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and closed regularly on Sundays. It operated by reservation, with the last reservation listed as 8:00 PM.
The building parking lot can be used, and I was told visitors could receive up to two hours of free parking. Check with the shop about how to register your vehicle after entering.

Is it easy to find from Gangnam-gu Office Station?
From Exit 2 of Gangnam-gu Office Station, I headed left toward the Paragon shopping area and turned immediately right, where I could see the shop. It was close to the station, and the barber pole and deep-green exterior stood out, so I did not get lost even on my first visit.

The classic barbershop feel started at the entrance. The colors and lighting of the actual space were more striking than they had looked in the photos.

Was the barbershop comfortable for the service?
The lighting, furniture, and mirrors all created a classic atmosphere. The interior was kept tidy, and it was not crowded during my visit, which made it comfortable.

There was a separate place to hang clothes, making it easy to put away my outerwear and bag. Lighting and decorative items were also arranged in the shampoo area, carrying the atmosphere through the whole shop.

How did we discuss the lifted sides and overgrown back?
Before the service, my hair had grown out considerably overall, and the loosened down perm made the sides look lifted. The volume did not look controlled from the front, while the length felt heavy from the side.

There were especially many lifted sections around the sideburns, and the back had become heavy too. Rather than simply cutting it short, I wanted a natural shape suited to my head. The barber checked my current hair condition and usual styling routine, then discussed the overall length and the look I wanted.
What was the order of the cut and down perm?
First, the cut tidied the length and shape. The barber cut little by little while checking the balance, and also considered my head shape and hair-growth direction.

They also shaped the area around my ears and sideburns carefully. It was my first time at a barbershop, so I worried that it might become too short or overly rigid, but it was done naturally to suit the look I wanted.

After the cut, the down perm began around the sideburns. Product was applied in sections where needed so that the lifted sides would sit naturally against my head. The back was then shaped as well, tidying the line from the sides to the back.

After the down perm, the barber checked the newly set volume and head shape again, refining the shape with additional cutting. They looked over the front, sides, and back in turn, and the sides and back were neatened without looking overly pressed down.

How was the finished style and home-styling guidance?
For the finish, my fringe was styled up differently from usual. My face looked more defined, and sweeping back the sides gave the overall style a neat feel. The side lines were cleanly tidied while the top retained natural volume, which I was pleased with.

After a previous service, I had experienced hair breakage, so I was concerned about damage. This time, my hair condition was checked throughout the process, which felt less burdensome, and I felt almost no damage afterward.

At the end, I was shown the blow-drying direction and styling method so I could create a similar look at home. This visit tidied my lifted sides and heavy back while also giving me the chance to try a new style with my fringe up.
