Gyeongju dessert shop where peach yogurt giant mochi won: Tareudang
In short
Tareudang is a fruit mochi and egg tart dessert shop on the west side of Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, open daily 11:00–19:00. On a Monday afternoon there was no wait, and peach yogurt, kiwi, pineapple and fig giant mochi were packed to go and eaten back in Seoul, with 500 won off each piece for orders of 4 or more. All four were good, but the peach yogurt giant mochi was the clear winner — go early, as Tareudang closes once the fruit runs out.

Where is Tareudang? Giant fruit mochi on the west end of Hwangnidang-gil
Hwangnam Mochi Tareudang (타르당) sits just slightly off to the left of the main Hwangnidang-gil street!! I visited on a Monday afternoon and luckily there was no wait, but apparently waiting is a must on weekends!!

I love fruit mochi no matter the type haha, and Tareudang sells fruit mochi and egg tarts!!

You know how crazy popular Han*seon is at Seoul Station these days? If Han*seon is the one at Seoul Station, Tareudang is the one in Gyeongju!!!!

Tareudang's mochi menu and why to buy four at once
The mochi lineup changes a little every day, and the fruit changes by season too!! Getting ₩500 off each when you buy 4 or more is a total tip!! Total reason to buy at least 4!!

When I visited they had mango, peach, kiwi, pineapple, fresh chocolate, and fig ready!! There were also egg tarts and cheesecake tarts, and the fruit tart was mango!! I picked peach (yogurt), kiwi, pineapple, and fig (with red bean) — four kinds!!!

And they're running an event where if you buy 3 or more and write a Naver photo review, you get a free 4-piece box and cooler bag haha. Since mochi needs to be refrigerated, a cooler pack is essential if you're traveling far, so you have to take part!!!

Here's the Tareudang giant mochi and cooler pack I got by diligently doing the review event!! The mochi are really big in size, so they were quite heavy.

If you visit too late, they sometimes close early from running out of ingredients, so I'd recommend going early if you want to try every kind of giant mochi!!

Packed into the 4-piece box, this is how it comes!! A great package for gifting too.

Four Tareudang giant mochi tasted after the trip back to Seoul
A sweet slice of Gyeongju, Tareudang!! I took mine out and carried them all the way home to Seoul before tasting haha.
Peach yogurt (low sugar): the top pick at Tareudang
You can see how huge the size is??? It's definitely bigger than my fist!!! It was heavy haha.

There's paper wrapping over the plastic wrapping! Looks like it's cream over fruit wrapped in mochi rice cake and dusted with castella crumbs!!

Cutting it in half, the cross-section showed a whole big peach inside!! And the cream wasn't plain cream but yogurt cream!! I can't resist peach and yogurt together haha.

The sweet peach and yogurt cream combo was such a perfect match haha. Personally my number one pick out of the four🍑
Fig giant mochi

Next I tried the fig!! It seemed slightly smaller than the peach one, but it also felt heavy haha.

It's a giant mochi with a whole fig, red bean and cream, wrapped in glutinous mochi skin and dusted with castella haha.

The fig had such a pretty cross-section!!!! Having a whole ripe fig inside was great, and it was sweet and delicious haha.
Gold kiwi giant mochi
Next was gold kiwi!! It felt similar in size to the fig.

A half-cut gold kiwi wrapped with fresh cream, red bean, and mochi rice cake, with castella crumbs dusted moist on top!

I was expecting a round kiwi cross-section but I cut it wrong lol. Anyway, the tangy-sweet gold kiwi with mochi, red bean and cream was also so delicious!!!
Pineapple giant mochi

Last one I tried was pineapple!!! This one also felt heavy! It's a pineapple, red bean, mochi and cream combo!

There was plenty of cream and two chunks of pineapple inside! The sweet and tangy pineapple with cream, red bean and mochi combo was also the best!!!👍👍 Honestly I love fruit mochi so much that all four kinds were delicious haha. If I really had to pick, peach yogurt is my number one!!
I bet the mango I didn't try and the winter-season strawberry giant mochi would be amazing too🥹 I have to go back to Gyeongju to eat more!!!!
