Ogeum-dong bakery café for pizza ciabatta takeout: Grid Cafe
In short
Grid Cafe is a bakery café on Macheon-ro in Ogeum-dong, Songpa, Seoul, where the dough is mixed and baked fresh every day. On a return visit, the writer took home egg tarts and the pizza ciabatta that comes out of the oven at 11am: a quick turn in the air fryer left the ciabatta crisp outside and moist inside, and the egg tart tasted just as good as it does in the shop. Grid Cafe is a neighborhood bakery that works perfectly even as takeout brunch.

You know that feeling when the smell of freshly baked bread and a cup of good coffee just melts all your fatigue away? Last time I fell in love with the salt bread and egg tart at this Ogeum-dong bakery spot and enjoyed a relaxed coffee in the store. This time I came back to Grid Cafe, a bakery favorite in Ogeum-dong, Songpa, to pack some to-go for a home café session instead!
Grid Cafe has solid fundamentals proven on TV — it was featured on the show Seomin Gapbu — so I'll fill you in on the bread release schedule and give you my full report on packing egg tarts and pizza ciabatta to take home!

The Ogeum-dong bakery featured on TV show Seomin Gapbu

After getting a business solution from chef Eun Hyun-jang, known as 'the god of business,' in October 2023 and appearing on Seomin Gapbu, Grid Cafe upgraded and renewed — so you can trust the taste and quality of the breads at this Ogeum-dong bakery favorite!
Grid Cafe's bread release schedule by time of day! Since it's a bakery that mixes dough and bakes fresh in-store every morning, timing your visit right means scoring the freshest bread possible!
Inside Grid Cafe: the space and Fritz coffee beans

Step inside and you're greeted by the savory smell of butter along with a cozy wood-toned hall. The tables are spaced generously too, making it a great spot to read alone with some bread or catch up with friends.

Plenty of people eat in, but takeout customers from the neighborhood and constant delivery order pings never seem to stop.
👏 Fritz coffee bean selection — this place is serious about coffee too, letting you choose from Fritz's signature blends: 'Old Dog,' 'Jaldwaegasina,' and even decaf.

Apparently, when the most popular egg tart and plain salt bread sell out early, they sometimes bake a small extra batch.

Still, if you want to safely grab the signature breads you're after, I'd recommend visiting between 11am and 1pm. This time I packed everything to take home and set up a home café spread — and even after packing it up, the egg tart still had all the same magic I felt eating it fresh in the store.

Do Grid Cafe's egg tarts hold up as takeout?
Grid Cafe's egg tart is a must-have — one tart per person, no exceptions!

The outer pastry is thin with those crackly, flaky layers still intact, and inside, the vanilla-bean-flecked egg custard filling is packed in like pudding. One bite and a soft, rich sweetness floods your mouth — not a hint of eggy funk, just an elegant sweetness that confirms these people really are egg tart masters.

Pizza ciabatta in the air fryer for a home café brunch
A meal-worthy bread that rivals pizza-seolgi (a trendy pizza-topped rice cake), Grid Cafe's pizza ciabatta. Pizza-seolgi has been so hot on social media that I really wanted to try it, but it's practically impossible to get, right?

Luckily I spotted pizza ciabatta fresh out at 11am and quickly grabbed it — and it was a total win! On top of ciabatta's signature airy, chewy bread base sits a generous layer of savory tomato sauce, salty ham, olives, and nutty cheese. Warmed briefly in the air fryer, the outside turned crisp and chewy while the inside stayed moist — a satisfying, hearty meal bread for brunch.
Final verdict on Grid Cafe

Grid Cafe has such a great atmosphere for enjoying freshly baked bread with coffee in the store, but it was just as perfect packed to go for a home café brunch after work or on the weekend! I recommend it to anyone who loves sweet, moist egg tarts and a hearty ciabatta meal bread.
