Blueberry cheesecake at Namyangju coffee museum café, Waltz & Dr. Mahn
In short
Waltz and Dr. Mahn is a large café in Joan-myeon, Namyangju, Gyeonggi, sitting right on the Bukhan River and running its own coffee museum. On a weekday afternoon the writer looked around the window seats and outdoor terrace at Waltz and Dr. Mahn and ordered opera cake and blueberry cheesecake with Vienna coffee and Café Royale. Between the wide private parking lot and the formal table service, Waltz and Dr. Mahn is worth a drive out of Seoul.

Today I'm bringing you a review of Waltz and Dr. Mahn, a place I really wanted to recommend as a drive-out spot near Seoul, in Namyangju.
This was somewhere in Namyangju I'd always wanted to visit. In person, the exterior was even more classic and upscale than the photos suggested. Sitting right in front of the Bukhan River, it has a wide-open riverside view plus high-quality coffee and desserts — a genuinely satisfying large café in Namyangju.

Window seats and the riverside terrace
Inside, Waltz and Dr. Mahn is decorated with antique furniture and a luxurious interior, and window seats look straight out onto the Bukhan River. The moment you step in, it feels like entering a grand old European mansion or exhibition hall.

The exterior has a bold, appealing red-brick look, and once inside, the antique furniture and upscale interior create a calm, refined atmosphere.

There's also a generous outdoor terrace with a full view of the Bukhan River.
The interior of Waltz and Dr. Mahn, full of elegant, antique atmosphere.
The window seats especially are prime real estate! The Bukhan River view right through the glass is absolutely amazing. Just sipping coffee while watching the glittering river was properly healing.

When the weather's nice, there's also plenty of outdoor terrace seating for enjoying the river breeze at leisure. The whole space feels so stylish it's basically a photo-op paradise.
There are also plenty of comfy sofa seats. I visited on a weekday, and aside from the window seats, it was quite spacious and relaxed~
What's on the menu at Waltz and Dr. Mahn
Waltz and Dr. Mahn is a premium space where you can enjoy both a proper meal and dessert.

For meals, they offer lunch and dinner courses (reservation available), letting you enjoy upscale Western dishes like steak or lobster spaghetti as a course. It would make a great date spot for a special occasion too.
This place is also very well known for its rich hand-drip coffee. From signature coffee menus to gorgeous-looking parfaits, and sweet desserts like chocolate cake and cheesecake, the lineup is solid!

Each table has a carefully placed pamphlet telling the history and story of Waltz and Dr. Mahn. It was fun to read through while waiting for the food!

There's also a receipt review event running! Join the event and grab some delicious coffee~!

Another thing I loved about Waltz and Dr. Mahn was how impressive the service was from staff neatly dressed in waiter uniforms! It went beyond just friendly service — I felt genuinely pampered with formal, dignified treatment the whole time. The classic café atmosphere combined with the staff's courteous service made for an especially special time.
How the cakes and coffee tasted
At Waltz and Dr. Mahn I ordered opera cake, blueberry cheesecake, Vienna coffee, and Café Royale. Along with coffee, I tried two kinds of dessert~

Opera cake
A rich dark chocolate cake, beautifully plated. The bittersweet dark chocolate flavor paired perfectly with the soft sponge layers, and it went wonderfully with coffee.

Blueberry cheesecake
Comes topped generously with fresh, tangy blueberries. The combination of sweet blueberry jam and the savory, dense cheesecake was addictive — I kept going back for more.

Vienna coffee (highly recommended)
Fluffy cream sits atop a smooth latte, with a cinnamon stick added on top — the subtle aroma was captivating from the moment it arrived.

It had a pleasantly sweet, smooth finish that I really enjoyed.
Café Royale
A unique coffee that adds whiskey to a rich espresso.

Watching the special performance unfold right at the table was fun in itself, and the combination of coffee and whiskey was fresher and more lingering than I expected. (The whiskey flavor is strong, so drivers shouldn't order this~!) The coffee cup was also gorgeous, perfect for photos haha.

They also seem to hold Friday music concerts, an event that fits the café's name perfectly. I'd love to visit on a Friday next time!
Is Waltz and Dr. Mahn worth the drive to the Bukhan River?
Waltz and Dr. Mahn's exterior and interior were even more impressive than I expected, and the Bukhan River view through the windows made for a treat for both the eyes and the palate. It's not just a place to grab a drink — with its cozy, museum-like atmosphere paired with high-quality drip coffee and desserts, I'd highly recommend it as a drive-out course near Seoul.
The photos come out beautifully, and both the atmosphere and the taste were satisfying, so next time I'd love to book a lunch or dinner course and come back for a proper meal. If you're looking for a special café near the Bukhan River, I'd recommend giving this one a visit!
