Gwangjang Market dessert for a housewarming: Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul

I had a housewarming party coming up and was trying to figure out what dessert to bring, so I stopped by Ssuk's Choco Pie, a well-known spot near Gwangjang Market. They had way more than just mugwort — strawberry, Udo peanut, real chocolate, and more — so I picked up the 6-piece gift set. Here's how it went down when I shared it with friends at the party :)

How to walk there from Jongno 5-ga Station Exit 7
Ssuk's Choco Pie is about a 2-minute walk from Jongno 5-ga Station Exit 7. Walk a bit toward Gwangjang Market and you'll find it — the whole storefront is green, so it's easy to spot from a distance.

Once inside, the interior was just as green as the outside. The walls were stacked with gift sets, and there were little characters scattered around too, which made browsing fun. On one side they had gift shopping bags set out separately.
How many choco pie flavors does Ssuk's make?
The display case had everything from choco pies to scones, cookies, and cheesecake. The choco pie lineup was Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort, sea-breeze mugwort injeolmi (rice cake), sea-breeze mugwort whole red bean, Udo peanut, Nonsan strawberry, and Gwangju real chocolate.
Each product had its manufacturing date labeled separately, and apparently everything follows a same-day thaw, same-day sale policy.
6-piece gift set price and packaging options
Since I wanted to try a bunch of flavors, I went with the set that includes one of each of the 6 choco pie flavors. The 6-piece set is 24,800 won and the 3-piece set is 13,400 won, for reference :) You're not limited to just choco pies either — you can mix in scones and cookies for whatever combo you want.
If you're buying it as a gift, they'll stick a free sticker on the box — there are several designs for birthdays, thank-yous, celebrations, holidays, and so on, so you just pick the number that fits. The ice cooler bag is 600 won, the gift shopping bag is 1,000 won, and Ssuk's also offers courier shipping. Since I was heading straight home, I just went with basic packaging.
Opening the box: 6 flavors, individually wrapped
When I got home and opened the box, each choco pie was in its own individual box. All 6 were laid out visibly in the green box, so it looked pretty enough to set out on the housewarming table just as it was.

Along with the box was a pamphlet listing everything Ssuk's sells, from the ingredients in each choco pie to their scones, cookies, and cheesecake. It was nice being able to see at a glance what goes into each flavor.
How long the choco pies keep, and how to thaw them
I also checked into storage — the choco pies keep for 8 days refrigerated or 30 days frozen. If you're not eating all 6 right away, you can freeze some, and frozen ones just need about 15 minutes of natural thawing before eating.
Sharing all 6 flavors as a housewarming dessert
And finally, on housewarming day, I shared them with friends. Honestly, with so much other food already prepared, I wasn't sure how much room anyone would have for dessert, but the reaction was way better than expected. The filling was thick and creamy, and since all 6 flavors were different, we cut them up and passed pieces around.
The mugwort flavors weren't as strong as I expected, and the strawberry had a nice tangy kick that was easy to eat between bites of the others. The Udo peanut was nutty, and the real chocolate was rich with deep chocolate flavor — everyone had a different favorite. Best of all, the individual packaging and the colors made it look great just set out as a housewarming dessert.
Is the 6-piece set worth it? Final thoughts
I brought these as a housewarming dessert and I'm glad I did, since my friends' reactions were so good. The box packaging is clean and you can even add a sticker of your choice, so if you're near Gwangjang Market looking for a dessert to gift or pack up, Ssuk's Choco Pie is worth checking out :)
