Couple-size bone stew and ramen finish in Suncheon: Namdareun

Hi everyone! It's Bella 🧚🏻‍♀️! I'm back today with another spicy, hearty meal that clears your head completely. This time I'm introducing Namdareun Gamjatang in Suncheon, where a deep, rich broth comes loaded with meat ( ੭ ･ᴗ･ )੭

It's a really convenient spot to stop by in Suncheon late at night, when you need a hangover cure, or whenever you want a solid, filling meal haha

A big, eye-catching mascot character and sign greet you at Namdareun Gamjatang! Stepping inside, the space is spacious and kept neat and tidy, which made a great first impression 🥺

The tables are spaced generously and there's proper group seating too, so it's great for drinks with friends or a relaxed family meal. The staff were kind as well, so we settled in feeling good 🤍

The menu and ordering the couple size at Namdareun Gamjatang

True to its name, the menu is packed with 'different' deep, rich broth dishes! There's a range of bone stews and hangover soups to choose from depending on your taste. Since there were two of us and we wanted to cook it up together, we ordered the Namdareun bone stew (couple) size and decided to finish with a noodle add-on too 😋

Every menu item is available for takeout, so I figured it'd be handy during the holidays haha. Side dishes can be refilled at the self-bar!! My partner and I love kkakdugi so we kept going back for more haha

How does the Namdareun bone stew, couple size (2.7), taste?

This is the basic side dish spread. Not having a huge variety of sides means they're confident about the main dish, right?! The kkakdugi was perfectly ripened and went really well with the gamjatang!! We refilled it three times and enjoyed every bit!

Ta-da ✨ Here comes the bone stew, steaming hot and piled generously into a big hot pot! The rich broth aroma along with the mushrooms and napa cabbage piled on top made my mouth water ㅠㅠ

I was surprised by how generous the portion was even for a couple size! The deep, spicy broth had soaked so well into the meat that I let out a gasp of admiration after the very first bite 👍🏻

There was plenty of napa cabbage along with the meat — it was a bit tough, which was a little disappointing, but the meat itself was incredibly tender!

We let it bubble away on high heat, then adjusted the flame and finally dug in. Even my partner, who isn't really into gamjatang, saw the visual and started eating like crazy lol

The meat clung so tenderly to the thick bones that it slipped right off the moment I touched it with my chopsticks 😍 My partner, who doesn't usually like pork, said it was delicious and ate it all the way through!

After picking through the bones and meat, dropping ramen noodles into the leftover rich broth isn't optional — it's mandatory 🥺 The springy noodles soaked up the deep stew seasoning so well that we slurped it all down in no time 🤍 (They keep refilling the broth, so just ask the staff!)

Verdict: is Namdareun Gamjatang worth it for a hangover meal in Suncheon?

The combination of tender meat and rich broth was perfect at Namdareun Gamjatang in Suncheon! From the generous Namdareun bone stew couple set to the ramen noodle finish that doubles the broth flavor, it was a really satisfying and filling meal. If you're around the Yeosu-Suncheon-Gwangyang area and want a good hangover-cure restaurant, I highly recommend this place!!!!!
