House-turned izakaya in Yeongdeungpo for a pre-wedding date: Nani
In short
Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch is an izakaya set in a converted house on Munnae-ro, right in front of Yeongdeungpo Station in Seoul. Arriving at opening time with her fiancé, the writer took an inner table and ordered Shin Ramyun risotto (spicy instant noodles baked with rice), pork belly and scallion skewers, and Asahi draft beer, with cabbage in tare sauce served free as the starter. With three separate areas — bar counter, table seats and a private room — Nani Byeolgwan suits both a quiet date and a group night out.

Shin ramyun risotto, yakitori recommended! From a good-atmosphere date to a private group gathering

A few days ago I visited Yeongdeungpo with my fiancé for a proper date, for once, and I wanted to recommend the izakaya where we had a casual drink in the evening — so here's my honest review! With our wedding rings finally in hand, a date in a place with such good atmosphere had me drunk on the mood as much as the food — everything from start to finish was exactly to my taste. A total success of a place!

A converted house right in front of Yeongdeungpo Station

Nani Byeolgwan sits right in front of Yeongdeungpo Station : ) Being so close to the station makes it easy to visit, and since it's an izakaya converted from a house, the atmosphere is genuinely overwhelming! It's great for an unusual date or a solo drink, and since group reservations are possible, it'd work well for gatherings too!
Three spaces: bar counter, table seats and a private room

Nani Byeolgwan has three spaces in total. There's the bar (dachi) seating you see right away, and inside there are tables with a nicer atmosphere and interior, plus a private room for groups — so you can pick whichever suits your needs!

We arrived right at opening and sat at an inner table. The soft lighting somehow made me feel a little giddy..!! We even took a photo with our wedding rings, finally on our fingers!
Ah! The restrooms are indoors and separated by gender, so they were convenient to use. And of course, they were clean and nice too.
Ordering from the QR code menu at Nani Byeolgwan

You just scan the QR code on each table to check the menu easily on your phone. True to an izakaya, they've got everything from yakitori to sake-steamed dishes, stir-fries, seafood, noodle dishes, and salmon sashimi! The drink selection looked pretty good too — I should try something new next time : ) Corkage is also available for a fee!
The free cabbage starter in tare sauce, and Asahi draft beer

The complimentary side dish is cabbage! I genuinely love the cabbage-and-tare-sauce combo you get at izakayas — I even keep a stash at home haha. It was delicious as always, and since it was a hot day, we ordered Asahi draft! Asahi is really cold and delicious, so definitely try it!!
Shin Ramyun risotto: the crisped noodle crust is the best part

A perfect-score side dish from the visuals alone!!!! I thought the noodles cooked crispy like scorched rice (nurungji) were the master stroke. The sauce had just the right thin consistency and paired well with the rice and bacon, staying moist and rich all the way through.

This was totally my fiancé's number one pick haha, a dish I definitely want to recommend! Apparently every dish is made by the chef himself, who has a whopping 15 years of experience! No wonder even a side dish tasted this amazing, ㅠㅠ
Pork belly and scallion skewers, served with mayonnaise
We also ordered the signature skewers!

Scallions wrapped in thin pork belly and grilled — this one had the juices soak into the scallion better than I expected, and it tasted really good! It's easy to eat and quite a filling dish.

They told us the scallion might be a bit spicy so we should dip it in mayonnaise, but it wasn't spicy at all and was delicious. The amount of scallion and the thickness of the pork belly were exactly right, so every bite had a consistent chew : )
Total approval!
A delicious, great-atmosphere izakaya I hadn't visited in a while! If you find yourself in Yeongdeungpo, I recommend it for a date or even a group gathering.
