Yeouido IFC Mall tteokbokki at 8pm, rice ball swap: Hyeonseonine

After wrapping up some errands in Yeouido, I went for a late dinner with a friend at Hyeonseonine tteokbokki haha. Once the day's work was done the hunger hit and I was craving tteokbokki so badly lol. We visited the Hyeonseonine branch on the path from IFC Mall to Yeouido Station! I've been to the Yongsan main branch a few times but never this one, so I was a little excited going in haha. Let's get into the review~

Where Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is, and what the room feels like

Hyeonseonine isn't actually inside IFC Mall, but on the path heading from IFC Mall toward Yeouido Station! Still practically right next door. The whole space felt clean and tidy, comfortable for a meal, and it turns out it had recently been renovated~

Ordering the Hyeonseonine Set: what you get when mini gimbap sells out

We ordered the Hyeonseonine Set. You can order easily at the kiosk near the entrance, and there's a wide range from single dishes to set menus. The Hyeonseonine Set normally comes with mini gimbap (seaweed rice roll), but since we came late around 8pm, the mini gimbap was already sold out ㅠㅠ so they substituted it with a rice ball instead~!

The self-service bar had water cups, utensils, forks, and pickled radish all neatly set out haha. Soy sauce and salt for dipping the fried snacks and sundae (blood sausage) were also there!

How spicy is Hyeonseonine's mild level for someone who can't take heat?

At Hyeonseonine you can choose your tteokbokki spice level, and since my friend and I are both total spice wimps we went straight for mild without hesitation haha. When our order came out, it was more generous than I expected, which was great~ Before ordering I'd asked how mild the mild level was, and was told it's about Shin Ramyun spicy — but eating it, it was actually much milder than Shin Ramyun. Thanks to that, even us spice wimps enjoyed it without any worry!

Above all, Hyeonseonine's rice cakes were so chewy!!! It's kind of amazing how they don't go soft and mushy, haha.

The sundae platter at Hyeonseonine, and why osorigamtu (pork stomach) stood out

The sundae (Korean blood sausage) was good, but the osorigamtu (pork lung/liver part) was what stuck with me that day especially. Chewy texture with barely any gamey smell, so I kept reaching for more haha.

Sipping the spicy-tangy oden (fish cake) broth between bites gave a refreshing reset from the tteokbokki! The broth was so good I asked for a refill lol. When I asked for the refill, I requested it without the fried-batter bits, which made it even cleaner. If you're not a fan of the fried bits, it might be good to ask them to leave it out from the start haha.

Which fried snacks come with the Hyeonseonine Set

The fried snacks were crispy and delicious too. I loved that there was such a variety! Squid tempura, yakimandu, kimmari (fried seaweed rolls), vegetable tempura, sweet potato tempura — all my favorites in one place~

The rice ball we got instead of mini gimbap ended up pairing surprisingly well too. Making it ourselves and dipping it in the tteokbokki sauce turned out to be a really tasty combo haha.

Walking to Hyeonseonine from the IFC Mall car park: P5, near J2

A tip for anyone driving in! I parked on the P5 floor that day, and if you park near J2 you can use the elevator closest to Hyeonseonine. Just take the elevator and get off at the L2 floor.

Is Hyeonseonine a good lunch spot in Yeouido too?

We came for a late dinner this time, but this place seems just as good for a Yeouido lunch option. It's on the way from IFC Mall to Yeouido Station, so it's easy to stop by for a meal after handling business at IFC Mall! With tteokbokki, sundae, mini gimbap, and fried snacks all available, it's great for a group to share. Especially if you're like me and can't handle spicy food well, the mild level lets you enjoy it worry-free. If you're craving tteokbokki in Yeouido or looking for a good Yeouido tteokbokki spot, give Hyeonseonine a try! I had a genuinely good tteokbokki meal after a while, and next time I want to try their instant tteokbokki too haha. Recommend Hyeonseonine :)
