There are sooo many pojangmacha (street-style tented bars) in Yeongdeungpo, but of all of them, I visited Yeokjeon Pojangmacha! Let me review it!
Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo branch is already a famous pojangmacha franchise in Seoul haha. Even celebrities have stopped by, and the side dishes are so~ good I couldn't not introduce it! It even got me, someone who barely drinks, pouring down draft beer nonstop — that's how good this Yeongdeungpo Station bar is!
Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo: hours and how to find it
Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo is open 16:00–01:00 Sunday through Thursday, and 16:00–03:00 on Friday and Saturday. Since it stays open until 1am even on Sundays, I could visit without any worries about time haha.

It's located right on Yeongdeungpo's main street so the accessibility is great~~~ If you make a reservation before visiting, you get even more perks! Such a steal!
Don't miss the honey tomato for guests who arrive before 7pm...

Retro pojangmacha mood and the window seats that feel like an outdoor tent
Retro, retro... the vibe at Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo is no joke! One side has open windows giving that outdoor tent-bar feeling, the other side has a proper retro pojangmacha atmosphere.

The basic side snack was macaroni ppeong-twigi (puffed rice crackers) — my hand kept reaching for it.
You really can trust Yeokjeon Pojangmacha, right???

Ordering the signature boneless dakdoritang
Since gopdoritang and dakdoritang (spicy braised chicken stew) are this place's signature dishes, how could I not try them? I'd only had a light dinner so I figured I'd get some rice in me too, so I ordered the boneless dakdoritang!! The vibe is totally fine for eating a meal with a side of drinks, which I loved ><
If it hadn't been the signature dish, I probably would've gone for tteokbokki (rice cake in spicy sauce) with fried chicken skin instead? There are so many delicious menu combos here that I would've had a hard time choosing without a signature to point me the right way haha.

The vibe here is seriously no joke, right? The atmosphere just gets you hyped.

How much is a beer and soju here? ₩2,900 and ₩3,900
The draft beer (300ml) came out first — guess how much it was??? Just ₩2,900!! At this no-pressure price, how could you not have a draft beer? On top of that, soju is ₩3,900... total steal... impossible not to drink.

When the dakdoritang came out, pickled radish came along with it.

Glove up and shape the rice balls yourself
They start you off with the rice balls first!

It's hot, so mix it up with a spoon, then shape it with the gloves~~~

What comes in the boneless dakdoritang, and is it enough for two?
Ahh~~~ the visuals on this dakdoritang are insane! I heard the jjolmyeon (chewy noodle) topping is a must-order... I wondered if noodles come standard, or if I should order them mid-meal, but it turns out rice cake and glass noodles are already packed in there! Two kinds of rice cake, even! The portion is surprisingly hearty — could easily be a full meal on its own. Glass noodles, two kinds of mushroom, quail eggs, two kinds of rice cake, cabbage, and more.

The visuals are insane~

You boil it for 3 minutes and dig in~ I scooped a full bowl for myself. I'd worried the portion might be small since I hadn't eaten rice beforehand, but it's way too much,,, the two of us genuinely stuffed ourselves with beer alongside it...

The dakdoritang broth was seriously so savory that I thought fried rice made with this broth would be amazing,, but I was too full to order it, and I still regret that.... Next time I go to Yeongdeungpo I'm definitely finishing with the fried rice,,,

Bouncy, chewy tteokbokki rice cake

Tried it with the rice balls too~ the glass noodles came out perfectly soft — so! good!!!!
Beer is a must, of course...

Free enoki mushroom refills at some tables
While eating, I noticed... another table getting an enoki mushroom refill... I wanted a refill too but felt shy about asking,,, but watching them get handed a huge bunch, I figured maybe it's an extra charge? Or maybe they just give it to you? Either way, more mushrooms would've been amazing!

Some people say the boneless version has a small portion of meat, but that's absolutely not true!! No matter how much we scooped, more chicken kept coming — we kept saying 'why is there so much chicken?' over and over haha.

There was so much rice cake in there too, both long and short pieces, that I didn't even miss not ordering tteokbokki separately haha. Plus quail eggs were in there, so halving one and mixing it into the broth basically beats real tteokbokki. I finally get why the owner recommends the jjolmyeon noodle topping — that broth flavor explains it all...

Seoul really has,,, so many celebrity-favorite spots,,, even Daesung from BIGBANG has stopped by Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo! Highly, highly recommend — go check it out soon!
