Hapjeong hair salon: thick hippie perm to revive loose curls at Arish

Today I'm sharing my review of a thick hippie perm (a loose, voluminous wave perm) I got at Arish Hair (Arish Hapjeong Muse Hair Salon), a hair salon near Hapjeong Station. 🤎 I usually get hippie perms pretty often. But over time my curls loosened and a lot of the volume disappeared, ugh 😭 So I went back for another hippie perm this time too!

What's the atmosphere like at Arish Hapjeong Muse?

The inside of Arish Hapjeong Muse is a clean, modern salon! The interior mixing concrete walls and stainless steel looked really stylish too :)

On one side there are lockers for your personal belongings, and there were so many figurine decorations, haha

Best of all, the space is bigger than I expected so it doesn't feel stuffy, and the treatment seats are spaced out generously, so it felt private and comfortable to stay in!

Snacks during long treatments like a hippie perm

Arish Hapjeong Muse also brought me snacks and drinks during the treatment. A hippie perm takes a long time, so you can get hungry halfway through, and I was glad they prepared plenty of snacks. Thanks to that, I could eat and relax while getting my perm. 🤍

Why I redid my loose hippie perm with thick curls

Before the treatment, my hippie perm curls had loosened and the volume on top had flattened. I get hippie perms regularly, but over time the curls loosen, and the top in particular lost a lot of volume, so my hair looked a bit flat overall. 😭

So this time I revived the loose curls, but instead of very small curls I went for a thick hippie perm with a natural, full feel.

After the thick hippie perm, the curls definitely came back to life and my hair looks much fuller overall! The thick waves flow naturally, with nothing frizzy or over the top, exactly the hippie perm style I wanted 🤍

Adding volume to hair that had been hanging limp made me look much livelier, and I loved that the curls carry all the way to the ends. This time I wanted thick, naturally flowing waves rather than very small, tight curls. With chunky curls through my whole head, it keeps that full hippie perm feel but ended up with a more natural vibe.

What I especially liked is that the curls don't look evenly stamped out; the hair overlaps naturally and the waves flow into each other.

For long hair if tight curls feel like too much

Even from the side, the thick hippie perm has full curls running to the ends, so the flatness typical of long hair is gone, and there's natural volume around the face that makes me look much livelier. Since the curls are thick, they don't look too frizzy or over the top, so I think it's easy to wear every day. If you love hippie perms but find very tight curls a bit much, this thick hippie perm could be a good fit!!
