Euljiro ramen shop with kiosk ordering and open kitchen: Mentsuru
In short
Mentsuru Euljiro Branch is a Japanese ramen shop in an alley six minutes on foot from Exit 9 of Euljiro 3(sam)-ga Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. Orders are placed at a kiosk outside before you step in and wait facing the open kitchen, and this first visit covered the Best motsu ramen (beef offal ramen) at 15,000 won, abura soba at 12,000 won and handmade karaage (2 pieces) at 3,000 won. The offal flavour was deep without feeling greasy and a bowl of rice comes free, so Mentsuru Euljiro Branch broke the idea that ramen is always heavy.

Hi, I'm Nari! It's a bit embarrassing to share this on my blog for the first time, but I've been a huge INFINITE fan since I was seven years old — I'm already in my early-to-mid twenties now, haha.
Anyway, Woohyun shouted out a friend's ramen place during a VLIVE broadcast, so I went to check it out! I heard that if fans mention they're Woohyun's fans, the owner calls them Woohyun's girlfriend and gives them free mandu (dumplings), but I kept quiet and went in acting like a totally normal customer! Pretending to be Woohyun's secret girlfriend, hehehe~ lol
Where is Mentsuru Euljiro Branch and how do you get there?
Mentsuru Euljiro Branch is at 26 Mareunnae-ro 2-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul. It's a 6-minute walk from Exit 9 of Euljiro 3(sam)-ga Station (Lines 2 and 3), and a 5-minute walk from Exit 6 of Chungmuro Station (Lines 3 and 4).
The shopfront on Mareunnae-ro 2-gil
It's tucked into an alley in Euljiro, but it wasn't hard to find since it's so close to the station. There are lots of cafés and bars nearby too, so it'd be great to plan a whole Euljiro date around it. The exterior alone gave off that authentic Japanese ramen-shop vibe, so I was already excited before even stepping in!

This is the entrance! There's a kiosk outside — order there first, then head in.
Is Mentsuru Euljiro Branch comfortable for solo diners?
The interior is cozy but the seats are neatly arranged, and since it's an open kitchen, you can watch the whole cooking process. It felt comfortable whether you're eating alone or on a date.

The inside is small but the seats were tidy and the overall mood was calm.

It looked like a place where you wouldn't feel self-conscious eating alone.

And it also seemed like a good spot for a simple meal with friends or a partner.

Plus, since it's an open kitchen, you can watch the food being cooked, so the wait never felt boring. It also made me feel more at ease eating there. Turnover seemed pretty fast too, so it looked like a great spot for a quick meal.

Pickled radish, pepper, and water were already set out on the table.
Mentsuru Euljiro Branch menu and the free bowl of rice
The menu at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch includes shio ramen, shoyu ramen, tsukemen, hormone-don (offal rice bowl), and more, along with drinks and alcohol to go with your meal. And rice refills are free.

One thing that really stood out was the free rice! Regardless of the noodle portion size, some people just don't find noodles filling enough on their own, you know? At Mentsuru Euljiro Branch, since rice refills are free, you can definitely eat until you're full.
Tasting the motsu ramen, abura soba and karaage

We ordered the Best motsu ramen (beef offal ramen) at ₩15,000, abura soba (oil-mixed noodles) at ₩12,000, and handmade karaage (2 pieces) at ₩3,000 today.

Best motsu ramen (beef offal ramen), 15,000 won
The noodles were super thin, so the broth and seasoning soaked in really well. There was also a generous amount of toppings — meat, bean sprouts, and offal.
Overall, the broth had a strong, savory offal flavor but wasn't as greasy as I expected. Eating the crunchy bean sprouts, tender meat, and chewy offal together with the noodles gave it varied texture! It wasn't aggressively salty but had a deep umami that kept me going back for more of the broth.

Abura soba (oil-mixed noodles), 12,000 won
You crack the soft-boiled egg on top and mix it well with the ingredients underneath! The noodles are a bit thicker than the motsu ramen's, but the oil and ingredients mixed together nicely.

About halfway through, you pour in the kelp vinegar that comes on the side for an even richer, more savory flavor. Overall, I first enjoyed the rich, savory oil flavor on its own, then once I added the kelp vinegar midway through, the taste turned noticeably fresher and lighter. Being able to enjoy two different flavor profiles in one bowl meant I never got tired of it, even down to the last bite.

Handmade karaage (2 pieces), 3,000 won
They actually gave us three pieces! You eat them with the sauce on the side, and they were really crispy and delicious.
Final verdict on Mentsuru Euljiro Branch
So that was my visit to Mentsuru Euljiro Branch, run by my boyfriend's friend (Woohyun, is this right?). The ramen was overall really delicious and the umami was no joke. In particular, Mentsuru Euljiro Branch broke the stereotype that ramen is always greasy and heavy!
Next time I'm going back to try the tori paitan that Woohyun recommended. Maybe by then I'll really be his girlfriend, haha~ Seriously recommend this as a great ramen restaurant in Euljiro!
