This time I went to Dorimgwan Hyangnam, a great spot for beef in Hyangnam.
The variety of meats and the side dishes that came out as default were a bit different from your typical BBQ place, so it left an impression. Besides beef, they also have a wide range of pork menu items, so it seemed like a great place to visit with a group where everyone can pick what they like. It also seemed good for a lunch visit, so if you're looking for a lunch spot in Hyangnam, this one's worth checking out!
Location and parking at Dorimgwan Hyangnam

It's located across from the Hyangnam Sujain Apartments, so it wasn't hard to find, and it was also a convenient spot to reach by car.

Parking was genuinely easy! There's a wide parking area not just in front but also behind the building, so it was great for those visiting by car.
When parking is iffy at a BBQ place it's low-key stressful, but here there was little to worry about. It seemed especially good for cases in Hyangnam where a family outing or a company dinner brings several cars together.
When I arrived, the building itself stood out easily. The exterior really gave off a "came here for meat" feel, so it wasn't hard to find, and best of all I could park and walk straight into the restaurant. When you're eating out after driving, that kind of thing matters more than you'd think haha.

Interior, private rooms, and the self-serve bar
Once inside, the space was much bigger than I expected. The tables weren't cramped together, and overall it felt spacious enough for a group visit.
So I immediately thought this would work well for a company dinner too. Besides the regular hall, there are also room-style spaces and partitioned seats, which would be great for anyone who wants a bit more privacy while eating.
Apparently Dorimgwan is known for its spacious hall and seats that offer some privacy hahaha.
They also had high chairs ready for families visiting with kids. When you're looking for a BBQ spot for a family meal, whether there's a high chair matters more than you'd think!

There's also a self-serve bar where you can grab extra banchan, sauces, vegetables, or small plates as needed, which was convenient. Not having to keep asking staff for more side dishes was a nice touch.

What's on the menu
Dorimgwan's menu was more extensive than I expected. There's everything from beef to pork — highlights include the hwangto garlic beef flank flower ribs, 1++ hanwoo sirloin, striploin, and top blade, and on the pork side there's a natural mineral handon (Korean native pork) menu. What was especially unique was that they even have mineral samgyeopsal (pork belly) smoked in a jar! If you came for beef but also want some pork, there are plenty of options.

They also have a lunch menu, so it's a solid choice if you're looking for a lunch spot in Hyangnam.

They were also running a Naver review event!
What I ordered: Raw hwangto garlic beef flank flower ribs ₩49,000 Bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold buckwheat noodles) ₩7,000
Jeolla-style banchan and shrimp-and-blue-crab doenjang jjigae

The first thing that caught my eye after sitting down was the banchan (side dishes).

The spread was based on jeolla-do style side dishes rather than the usual BBQ restaurant lineup, so there were quite a few I was seeing for the first time.

In particular, gamtae (seasoned laver), chamgejang (soy-marinated raw crab), onion kimchi, and more filled the table, so I found myself picking at them one by one even before the meat arrived.
The gamtae paired well with the meat, and the onion kimchi cut through the richness nicely. Having something like chamgejang, which you don't often see at a BBQ place, made even the side dishes feel fresh and different.
They also serve doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) as a default, and it wasn't your average version.
It had shrimp and blue crab in it, so the broth really had that seafood flavor. It was great to spoon up between bites of meat, and also went well with rice!
It's the standard doenjang jjigae you get at a BBQ place, but with seafood in it, the broth had a refreshing, clean feel.
How the raw hwangto garlic beef flank flower ribs tasted

The main dish we had that day was the raw hwangto garlic beef flank flower ribs!
The name alone sounded delicious, and the meat actually looked great too.

Grilled on the pan and cooked just right, one bite had good juiciness and a nice savory flavor.
I personally like tasting the meat's own flavor, so I ordered it raw, and since there were so many banchan, it was fun mixing and matching.

It was tasty just dipped lightly in salt, or wrapped in gamtae, or paired with the onion kimchi.

Eating it with the jeolla-style banchan especially made for a combination a bit different from a typical beef restaurant, which was fun.

If you like beef, this is a place worth stopping by once if you're on the hunt for good beef in Hyangnam.

One unusual touch — they give you shiitake mushrooms to grill alongside the meat, and it was a real treat hahaha.
Finishing with bibim naengmyeon

After beef, naengmyeon (cold noodles) for dessert is a must haha. We ordered bibim naengmyeon too.
Finishing off the meat with sweet and tangy bibim naengmyeon was, as expected, a great combo.

Eating meat can leave your mouth feeling a bit heavy at times, but the tangy flavor of the bibim naengmyeon made it feel like I could go right back to the meat lol.

If you like the combo of beef followed by naengmyeon, I'd recommend ordering it together.
Dessert drinks
After finishing the meal, we also had dessert. There's plum tea, blue lemonade, and coffee, so you can pick whatever suits you. A glass of plum tea after the meat felt like a clean finish, and the blue lemonade looked refreshing from its color alone, making it great to drink after a meal.

If you like coffee, you can finish with that too. Being able to wrap up everything from the meal to dessert in one stop made for a comfortable end to the visit.
