Weekend wait and unscored pork skin at a Goyang BBQ spot: Neopttakjip
In short
Neopttakjip Samsong Branch is a Sancheong black pork BBQ restaurant 100m from Exit 3 of Samsong Station in Goyang, Gyeonggi. After a weekend 7pm wait behind two parties, the writer ordered 400g of Sancheong black pork raw ribs with a mixed vegetable set for 41,000 won, three pieces of pork skin for 8,000 won, and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice for two for 7,000 won. The aged meat was thick but easy to grill, and unlimited scallion salad and sour kimchi from the self-serve bar sealed the deal.

I went to a Samsong restaurant that's also famous as a Starfield Goyang spot.

I'm the type who gets serious in front of meat 🥩

How long was the weekend evening wait?
This place is famous as a Starfield Goyang restaurant and a name that always comes up when people talk about Samsong food. It's apparently also popular as a company dinner spot in Samsong 🔥 On a weekend at 7pm there were about 2 parties waiting. If you're heading there on a weekend, keep that in mind.

What does the name 'Neopttakjip' mean?
The name apparently combines the meaning of spreading meat out flat ('neopdedeha') with the idea of generous, warm hospitality.

They say they've stuck with only the best raw meat for 14 years, and have even learned livestock and logistics themselves to run their own distribution. Their three principles: trust with customers, consistent taste, and verified raw meat.

Among the pork that goes through primary selection, secondary inspection, and tertiary aging, the signature dish is 'ibulgalbi' (blanket ribs) — the whole rib section connected to the pork belly, hand-filleted flat right in the restaurant. If you order ibulgalbi, they'll also give you a free serving of their special spicy braised ribs, so keep that in mind.
What we ate today
The 400g Sancheong black pork raw ribs with mixed vegetable set came to 41,000 won. Since it's Neopttakjip's signature dish, I ordered this right away.

Being aged meat, it was definitely tender, and while I had to grill it myself, it wasn't hard.

The pork skin wasn't heavily seasoned, so I think anyone who likes that distinctive chewy texture would be satisfied. The mixed grill set was also good value.

Mushrooms, onions, and sweet potato made a great combination to eat alongside the meat.
Side dishes that satisfied
There were plenty of side dishes, and the scallion salad especially won me over.

It was spicy enough to cut through the richness, and the combo of ssamjang (dipping sauce), salt, oil, and perilla powder worked really well together.

If you needed more, you could just walk over to the side bar and take as much as you wanted.

Sancheong black pork 400g — thick but easy to grill
✔️ Sancheong black pork 400g The hearty raw ribs that came out really raised my expectations. I prefer meat with a good amount of fat, so this was even better for me — a nice balance of appropriate fat and lean meat 🎉

The flame runs pretty high, so it cooks fast. There's no sauce coating it, so it doesn't burn easily either. I thought it would be hard to grill since it's thick, but it wasn't. Super easy, easy ❤️

My sister's flashy meat-cutting skills, in progress — meat should be grilled by whoever's good at it, right? There are bones scattered through the meat here and there, so you need to eat carefully around them.

You can grab wrap vegetables from the self-serve bar too. The sour kimchi in particular was a work of art. Wrapping it up with the roughly cut kimchi — how good could that possibly be? 😎👍

Move the fully cooked meat and kimchi onto the cast-iron plate. Keeping it there meant it didn't burn — nice touch.

Unscored pork skin, 3 pieces for ₩8,000
✔️ Pork skin (3 pieces), ₩8,000 It's been a while since I've had proper pork skin like this 🙎♀️ Personally I love pork skin that isn't scored. You've got to eat pork skin dipped in soybean powder for the real flavor.

Finishing with kkakdugi fried rice
✔️ Kkakdugi fried rice for two, ₩7,000 This place really knows its kimchi 🔥 It's fried rice made with special kkakdugi (radish kimchi) and woo samgyeop (thinly sliced beef brisket). Every grain of rice was firm and springy. Highly recommend this dish ❤️

Overall thoughts
The taste and the whole setup made it clear why this is known as a Samsong favorite. They say there are so many regulars that there's a saying: 'there's no one who's come just once, only people who've never come at all.'

If you're looking for restaurants near Jichuk or Wonheung, Samsong Station isn't too far off either.
- Great value on the mixed grill set
- Satisfying side dish spread including scallion salad
- 100m from Samsong Station Exit 3, parking available
- Also recommended as a group dinner spot in Samsong
If you're looking for a Starfield-area restaurant, I recommend Neopttakjip Samsong Branch. Be sure to add it to your Samsong food list.
