Wondering what to do first at Sokcho Market? No question about it — head straight to Ddogi-ne first! It's so popular, and everything is made fresh to order which takes time, so the first thing we do when we get to Sokcho Jungang Market is reserve the squid sundae.

Besides squid sundae (stuffed squid sausage), potato pancake, and buckwheat pancake, you can also get all kinds of fried snacks — king shrimp tempura, snow crab tempura, squid tempura — plus sikhye (sweet rice drink), orange juice, and tempting tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes), all in one spot. They also sell set menus, so if you want more variety at a reasonable price, check those out~! We debated between the 1.5-serving and basic squid sundae, and ended up ordering the basic nurungji squid sundae along with a potato pancake. But honestly, having eaten it all, I highly recommend the 1.5-serving of squid sundae ㅠㅠㅠㅠ Even if you're full, you'll be sad when it runs out..!!!

They sell uncooked squid sundae too, and you can pick your favorite style — from the basic squid sundae soaked in egg wash to the crispy nurungji (scorched rice-crust style) squid sundae — this squid sundae is a Sokcho Jungang Market specialty, and Ddogi-ne Twigim serves it every way.

And another hidden menu item we always order without hesitation whenever we visit — "potato pancake"!!! They grind the potatoes fresh right when you order, and this young foreign staff member makes it so well he puts Korean cooks to shame!

It's so crispy and delicious with nothing but potato in it, everyone needs to try this at least once haha. While waiting for the chicken (fried chicken bites), you also get to watch the whole frying-line performance, and they make it so well that even passersby stop to watch.

Living up to its title as the original nurungji squid sundae in Jungang Market, the quality of the crispy-grilled nurungji squid sundae really stands out.

Their hands move so fast, and yet orders just keep pouring in faster than they can keep up — can you believe it? We visited thinking September would be a bit quieter, but Sokcho's reputation held strong; there were still tons of people.

Ddogi-ne Twigim got even more famous after being featured on TV. Back when we didn't know about this place, we'd always search reviews first and go thinking 'this seems good' — but now it's a place we visit with our own money without a second thought.

The tempting potato pancake followed by the nurungji squid sundae — a place where you can enjoy this combo generously all at once, a true food spot at Sokcho Jungang Market.

We couldn't give up the chicken bites we packed alongside it either — this is basically our couple's must-do winning combo whenever we come to Sokcho haha.

The squid sundae is so charmingly crispy, so delicious ㅠㅠ Even writing this post now, I can still recall the taste — and the potato pancake has amazing chewiness too, the combo is the best. Honestly, this is exactly what gives you Sokcho withdrawal.
