Where is Kats Gimseondo, and when is its break time?

Kats Gimseondo (카츠김선도) is between Jeonpo and Seomyeon in Busan, so it was easy to get to. The address is 16 Seojeon-ro 47beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan, South Korea. It occupies a newly built building, so both the exterior and interior were clean. The posted break time was 3:00–5:00 p.m.

Are there seats that are good for dining alone?

There were four-person tables and counter seats that were good for dining alone. I thought it would be comfortable to sit here whether you came with several people or by yourself.

The menu also included an introduction to the restaurant. I ordered the tenderloin donkatsu set, which I usually like, while my boyfriend ordered the Gimseondo set.

We sat at the counter. The seat was a little high, but there was a place to rest my feet under the table, so it was comfortable.

The kitchen was an open kitchen that could be seen from the dining area. From where I sat, I didn’t notice any grease or dust, and the stainless-steel surfaces looked clean, which gave me a good impression.

How were the texture and sauce of the tenderloin donkatsu set?

The tenderloin was tender and the coating was crisp. I felt it would suit anyone who likes a crunchy fried coating. I like pepper, and the pepper placed on the table went well with the donkatsu.

The donkatsu sauce and salad dressing tasted clean and mild to me. They also felt homemade, although I couldn’t confirm whether they were actually made in-house. I usually leave cabbage salad, but I liked the dressing enough to finish it that day.

What did I like about the Gimseondo set?

I tried a piece of the sirloin donkatsu from my boyfriend’s Gimseondo set. The fat on the sirloin was savory and pleasantly chewy. I usually choose tenderloin, but even so, I wanted to order the Gimseondo set next time.

The Gimseondo set also came with a fried egg that could be eaten with soy sauce and rice, like ganjang gyeranbap (soy sauce egg rice). It arrived with soy sauce already poured over it, and they provided extra soy sauce separately so we could add more to taste. My boyfriend, who likes ganjang gyeranbap, was especially satisfied.

We both finished all the donkatsu, and my boyfriend had another bowl of rice. I often eat doenjang soup when donkatsu feels greasy, but it tasted light that day, so I even forgot to eat the soup. I liked the tenderloin, but on my next visit I want to try the Gimseondo set with sirloin and a fried egg.
