A mackerel wrap rice restaurant near Hamdeok Beach
I’d like to introduce one of the foods I had while traveling in Jeju that was absolutely right up my alley. It’s a mackerel wrap rice restaurant I’d recommend as a Hamdeok favorite. It’s near Hamdeok Beach, with the sea right across from the restaurant, and Hamdeok Beach is only about a five-minute drive away, so it was a great place to stop during the trip.

A hearty breakfast set after checking out
We came straight here after checking out of our accommodation in the morning. We had been looking for somewhere serving breakfast, so it was nice to have a hearty Korean meal. Having a warm, full rice set like this for breakfast really filled us up before starting the day’s travels.

We ordered the mackerel wrap rice set for 2! I had actually never seen mackerel wrap rice before, but I’m what you might call a wrap fanatic—I absolutely love wrapping food in leafy greens—so I liked the sound of it from the name alone.

A Korean table that won me over from the side dishes
When the food came out, I was immediately happy because there were so many different basic side dishes. Rather than just one or two, a whole table was filled with them, so it felt like we were having a proper Korean meal.

One side dish that completely hit the spot for me was seasoned sweet potato stems! Those of you who love sweet potato stems know… when their distinctive texture works with the seasoning, you just keep reaching for more, and these were totally my style ㅠㅠ I was digging into the side dishes before the mackerel wrap rice had even arrived. Soy-marinated crab also came as a basic side dish, and that was another little delicacy. The crab shells were more soft than hard, so the meat came right out. Soy-marinated crab can be a hassle because picking out the meat is tiresome, but the meat came away easily, so it was comfortable to eat. Naturally, it was delicious with rice.

Mackerel wraps with aged kimchi and radish
The braised mackerel main came with aged kimchi, which I love. As a kimchi lover, it won me over once again! The aged kimchi had soaked up the seasoning in the braise, and it was delicious on its own too, making it perfect with rice. They cut the whole kimchi into easy-to-eat pieces, then you can put flaked mackerel, aged kimchi, and radish into a leafy wrap and take a huge bite—it’s honestly fantastic.

The mackerel was tender and well seasoned, and with the wrap greens, the rich flavor of braised fish went so well with the fresh crunch. Anyone who loves wraps would really enjoy this! My boyfriend said his stomach felt a little off that morning, so I thought he wouldn’t be able to eat much. But he ate two whole bowls of rice 😆😋 I guess an upset stomach is only temporary in front of delicious food. Of all the food I ate in Jeju, this mackerel wrap rice was the best. Do you love kimchi, wraps, and braised fish? Then just come here!! It felt like a restaurant that had gathered every one of my favorite things, so I was incredibly satisfied.

Review-event snack and parking
After the meal, we also tried the Hallabong crunch we received through the review event. It tasted like a wafer with a Hallabong citrus aroma, so it was nice as a light snack. It was fun as a little Jeju travel souvenir snack too.

You also don’t need to worry about parking: there’s an open lot-like space around the restaurant where you can park comfortably. The sea is directly across from the restaurant and Hamdeok Beach is close by, making this a great location to look at the ocean before or after your meal! If I travel to Jeju with my parents someday, this is somewhere I definitely want to bring them. It has a hearty set meal adults would enjoy, plenty of side dishes, and braised mackerel with aged kimchi, so I think it would be great for a family meal too. If you’re looking for a Hamdeok favorite and want a proper Korean table in Jeju, this is somewhere I’d recommend! Everything from the basic side dishes to the main was generous and filling, making it a good breakfast spot too. Seeing the Jeju sea and eating delicious mackerel wrap rice made our very first meal of the trip completely satisfying.
