Family pho dinner near Dongtan Station, peppers removed: Mibundang

It was one of those busy, hectic weekday evenings with nothing planned for dinner, so I stopped by Mibundang, a pho spot in Dongtan, with my kid on the way to the grocery store. When I said, "Let's eat dinner before we hit the mart!" my younger one got so excited. After some back and forth on what to eat, we settled on pho for its warm broth!

Mibundang, a Dongtan Station favorite, has a cozy atmosphere. With tile-roof-style decoration near the entrance, it's a Vietnamese restaurant, but somehow has a slightly East Asian aesthetic mixed in — a unique exterior that catches the eye.

Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch is located at 1F, Unit 109, Dongtan Station Richian Commercial Building, 495 Dongtan-daero, and parking is available at the Dongtan Station Richian parking lot. It's closed every Tuesday.

In front of the store there's a kiosk for ordering and a waiting area, and the area around the entrance is neatly kept as well.

Mibundang at Dongtan Station also takes orders through the kiosk's 'takeout' menu, with the option of fully cooked or half-cooked takeout.

Since I stopped by on the way to grocery shopping, I was just there for a simple dinner, but the warm lighting and wood-tone exterior already had my kid excited before we even walked in, haha.

Inside, the lighting softly illuminates the wooden exterior walls, giving the interior a really nice mood too.

Further inside, there's a long bar-style seating area. Each table had a bit of space separating it from the next, which made it easy to focus on the meal.

When visiting with a kid, I tend to prefer a spot that isn't too close to the surrounding tables so we can eat more comfortably, and Mibundang's seating layout actually felt comfortable in that way.

Pho that's easy for kids: the peppers come out before serving

On this visit at Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch, we ordered pho and a side menu item (assorted fried appetizers).

The pho, served in a large bowl, was loaded with bean sprouts, noodles, and meat, topped with scallions and peppers. When eating with a kid, you naturally get a bit careful with broth that has peppers or strong aromas, but they removed the peppers from my kid's portion ahead of time ^^

Mibundang's pho (Vietnamese rice noodle soup) has plenty of bean sprouts and meat, so eating them together with the noodles gives a nice variety of textures. I personally love a lot of bean sprouts in my pho, so I was very satisfied.

The crunchy bean sprouts, soft rice noodles, and warm broth go well together, and with the meat added in, it makes for a pretty filling one-bowl meal.

Since pho alone felt like it wasn't quite enough, we also ordered the assorted fried appetizer side. As shown in the photo, it came with a variety of fried items, crispy and great to pair with the pho.

When eating with a kid, rather than ordering just one dish, adding a side like this gives them more options, which is nice. Kids especially seem to enjoy the meal more when they can mix in some crispy fried food between bites of noodles, instead of eating just noodles the whole time. Dipped in the sauce, it had a tangy-sweet flavor that felt different from the pho, in a good way.

In the photo, you can see my kid eating pho in front of a huge bowl, working through the noodles and drinking the broth pretty enthusiastically ^^ When eating out with kids, sometimes the food doesn't suit their taste and the parent ends up eating most of it, but this time my kid ate well on their own, so I got to enjoy my meal comfortably too.

Bar seating and the mood inside Mibundang

Unlike a typical table-style restaurant, Mibundang has a long bar-style seating arrangement, which felt a bit unique. Even with a kid along, it was easy to focus on the food, and overall the place felt well-kept and clean. The wood-decorated interior also has a warm feel, so the atmosphere came through nicely in photos alongside the food.

With the wood tones carried consistently from the entrance all the way through the interior, Mibundang really has its own distinct atmosphere. It's a solid choice for a solo meal or a quick bite near Dongtan Station, and just as fine for visiting with a kid for pho like I did.
