I tried the clam hot pot in broth at Wonhadeon Bada, a restaurant near Byeollnae Byeolgaram Station. Loaded with clams, abalone, shrimp and octopus — I checked out the menu prices, parking, and the Danggeun review perk in person.

If you're looking for a place to eat steamed or grilled clams in Byeollnae, read this to the end.

I was craving seafood so I headed to Wonhadeon Bada near Byeollnae Byeolgaram Station. At first I figured it'd just be a neighborhood grilled clam joint!

Then I ordered and saw the tray, and my mind changed.

It wasn't just a few clams thrown together — shrimp, abalone, octopus, mussels, scallops, and all kinds of clams were spread across the whole tray. It photographed beautifully, so generous. There's also something worth knowing before you visit.

It'd be a shame to leave without knowing that, haha. Let me walk through the location, menu prices, how it actually tasted, and parking, step by step.

Parking always nags at me when driving out for clams, but this made it easy.

The exterior: a seafood-night mood from the street

I visited at night, and the Wonhadeon Bada sign was visible from far away.

Right at the entrance there were big photos of salt-grilled raw shrimp and steamed clams, setting the mood: today's a seafood day.

Personally I prefer this kind of casual place where you can sit comfortably and have a drink with your clams, over a stiff, overly polished restaurant, and this was exactly that vibe. Fine for a family dinner out, but also relaxed enough for dinner with friends or a date with a few drinks.

The menu at Wonhadeon Bada Byeollnae Byeolgaram Station branch was more varied than I expected.

From the menu photo I took: clam hot pot in broth small ₩55,000, medium ₩69,000, large ₩81,000, and adding octopus was ₩20,000.

Beyond steamed and grilled clams there was plenty more seafood: grilled cheese scallops ₩25,000, steamed conch ₩25,000, steamed stone octopus ₩20,000, clam wine steam (large) ₩20,000, clam wine steam (small) ₩15,000, buttered abalone ₩15,000. Good lineup if one person wants grilled clams and another wants a brothy hot pot or seafood stew — easy to pick together.

There are also noodle add-ons, so you can finish off with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) or ramen. Actual visitor reviews also mention the clam hot pot portion being generous and that finishing with the added kalguksu noodles works well.

Inside Wonhadeon Bada: pojangmacha feel and outdoor drinking tables

Pojangmacha-style interior with fishing nets and clam decorations

The interior at Wonhadeon Bada Byeollnae Byeolgaram Station branch definitely had that sea vibe. Green walls with a big fishing net and clam decorations, menu photos lined up on one side — closer to a relaxed seafood pojangmacha (street tent bar) than a polished restaurant.

Each table has a burner, so the clams stay warm while you eat.

A great fit for a group sitting around sharing steamed or grilled clams.

Wide view of seating good for large groups

On a nice day the outdoor seating would be great too. Go late though and the terrace fills up, ugh.

What the 55,000 won broth clam steamer tastes like

First, the side dishes come out.

What I liked most was definitely the seafood lineup. You can see it right away in the photos. Scallops, clams, mussels, abalone, shrimp, octopus — all kinds of seafood piled generously onto one tray.

It's not just one type of clam piled high — there's variety to pick through, so clam lovers will be especially satisfied. Cooking it warm on the burner also kept the temperature nice all the way through.

When I eat steamed clams, the broth matters as much as the seafood to me — and this broth was fantastic.

The fish cakes served midway had spicy seasoning and green onion on top, easy to pick at between bites of clams. Best of all, with several people around one big tray, there was fun in picking out different pieces together.

If you're in the mood for seafood instead of meat while looking for restaurants near Byeollnae Byeolgaram Station, especially if you like steamed and grilled clams, this is worth remembering.

Is Wonhadeon Bada worth it for steamed clams in Byeollnae?

I felt this was a good spot to visit with a group when you're craving steamed or grilled clams in Byeollnae. Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) also came out.

It's walkable from Byeollnae Byeolgaram Station and has parking, so it's easy to get to, and the standout visual of many kinds of seafood piled on one tray really delivers.

Good for a family seafood dinner with parents, and also fits nicely for drinks over clams with friends or a Byeollnae date when you want something other than meat.

Rather than looking for the cheapest item on the menu, this suits people who want to eat clams, abalone, shrimp, and octopus generously all at once.

Especially now that evenings are getting cooler, a hot bowl of clam broth sounds appealing. This feels like a place I'd think of again in Byeollnae on days like that..!
