Yangyang barbecue on the way to Naksansa: 200g pork jowl at Yeoyejeong
In short
Yeoyejeong is a grilled-meat restaurant on Ssangsolbaegi-gil in Seo-myeon, Yangyang, Gangwon, about 10–15 minutes by car from Naksansa Temple and popular with locals. On a family stop at Yeoyejeong we grilled 200g portions of pork belly and pork jowl and added the lunch special with a meat set, kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and hot stone pot rice. The meat quality and the value were both satisfying, so Yeoyejeong is a place worth returning to on the next Yangyang trip.

Yeoyejeong Yangyang restaurant, Korean barbecue, Yangyang local favorite, lunch special recommendation
Let me introduce Yeoyejeong, a Yangyang pork belly restaurant we stopped at on the way to Naksansa Temple. It's already a well-known spot among locals, and when we visited at lunchtime, it was packed with customers. The meat quality was great, and even just the lunch special was filling and satisfying enough for a full meal, so I really want to recommend Yeoyejeong✨️. Let's get into the review.
Yeoyejeong hours, closing day and parking

Yeoyejeong is open daily from 11:30 to 21:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00, and closed every Tuesday. High chairs, group seating, takeout, and reservations are all available, and there's a private parking lot at the restaurant.

10–15 minutes from Naksansa: inside Yeoyejeong

Yeoyejeong is conveniently located about 10–15 minutes by car from Naksansa, one of Yangyang's most popular tourist spots.

There's a dedicated parking lot, and the interior is fairly spacious, so it works well for group gatherings, family visits, or just eating comfortably with friends.
There's currently a raffle event running for customers who leave a Naver review, so it might be worth taking part.
Yeoyejeong menu and prices: what our family ordered

Yeoyejeong offers everything from pork — pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl — to beef, but the lunch special seems to be especially popular.

Even if grilling meat at lunch feels like too much, the lunch special comes with a stone pot rice so you can still eat a hearty meal — I bet that's why some people come specifically for this😋. I visited with family, so we got to order a variety of dishes and try a bit of everything.
- Pork belly ₩15,000×2
- Pork jowl ₩18,000×2
- Meat set ₩15,000×1
- Kimchi jjigae ₩13,000×1
- Doenjang jjigae ₩5,000×1
- Stone pot rice ₩3,000×1
Grilling 200g pork belly and pork jowl over charcoal
Both the pork belly and pork jowl at Yeoyejeong come in 200g portions, so the amount was quite generous. They first set us up with side dishes and charcoal.
The meat arrived right away too, and since each portion is 200g, there was quite a lot — so much that it didn't all fit on the grill at once and had to be cooked in two batches, haha.
I usually go for pork belly, but since I was with my sibling's family today, I tried the pork jowl. The fire was strong so the meat cooked quickly, which was nice — didn't take long at all.

I tried the pork jowl first, and the springy, chewy texture with a rich, nutty flavor that deepens the more you chew was amazing👍. I guess this is why people love pork jowl, haha.

Of course, the tender, juicy pork belly didn't fall behind at all..☺️ Even my sibling, who dislikes overcooked meat because it gets hard, admitted this was juicy. As for me, the combination of rich fattiness and lean, clean meat in the belly is my pick, haha.

The meat piled up quickly but disappeared just as fast, haha — the kind of taste that earns Yeoyejeong its reputation as a Yangyang meat spot.

The wrap vegetables in particular were really soft and fresh, so eating them with the meat made every bite feel that much fuller.
Yeoyejeong lunch special: meat set, kimchi jjigae and doenjang jjigae

After the meat, we ordered a meal with the Yeoyejeong lunch special. It's a set of meat special ₩15,000, kimchi jjigae ₩13,000, doenjang jjigae ₩5,000, and stone pot rice ₩3,000.

The basic doenjang jjigae had zucchini, tofu, and other main ingredients cut in big chunks, which made it look even more generous, and the spicy, savory flavor was enough to win over the whole family🫶.

The meat special came with quite a generous amount of marinated ribs. Eaten with the chive salad, the sweet-and-salty combo is basically rice's best friend😍.
The thing I was most satisfied with was this kimchi jjigae. The stone pot was pretty large, so it would be plenty for two people to share, and it was packed with glass noodles, kimchi, tofu, and meat.

Meat kept coming out even down to the bottom of the pot🍖 — leftover bone pieces from trimming the ribs, and of course, meat on the bone is always the tastiest, haha.

Finishing off with warm sungnyung (scorched rice tea) made everything feel incredibly satisfying❣️. Tasting the great meat quality and the excellent value of Yeoyejeong's lunch special, I understood exactly why this place is packed with local customers, haha. A meat restaurant I definitely want to visit again on my next Yangyang trip❗️ You'll be even more satisfied if you try it yourself.
