Ingye-dong Suwon BBQ: bibim naengmyeon and prime rib, Jipbul Taebaek

A prime rib BBQ spot on Nahyeseok-gil in Ingye-dong, Suwon, close to Suwon City Hall Station!!! Here's my review of Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch (짚불태백 수원인계점)~

Where is Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch, and where do you park?

Arrived at Jipbul Taebaek, a famous BBQ restaurant in Ingye-dong, Suwon! 🚗 Since Hyowon Park was close by, I parked at the free roadside lot near Gyeonggi Art Center and walked over~

This place won a 2024 Blue Ribbon🎀!!!

Inside Jipbul Taebaek: the dining room

Here's the inside of Jipbul Taebaek, the famous BBQ restaurant in Ingye-dong, Suwon~

There were people inside so I only got a shot of a corner on my way out, but this is the vibe! The interior atmosphere is great👍🏻

Jipbul Taebaek menu and prices

Here's the menu at Jipbul Taebaek, the famous BBQ restaurant in Ingye-dong, Suwon. Every table has a tablet for ordering! Alongside the famous prime rib, they have straw-fire pre-seared pork belly, pork neck, and more, plus desserts like sorbet and affogato.

Since there were two of us, we ordered two servings of prime rib~

Side dishes and the self-serve bar

After ordering, they brought us bottled water

and a variety of side dishes~ salad, kimchi, seasoned lettuce, pickles, radish kimchi, even japchae (stir-fried glass noodles)😲

They also brought bracken fern and kimchi to grill alongside the meat

There's a self-serve bar on one side of the restaurant where you can grab lettuce, perilla leaves, kimchi, chili peppers, and garlic

Suddenly there was fire🔥 on one side — they were pre-searing the prime rib over a straw fire👍🏻

The utensils were neatly wrapped too

I ordered a cola and asked for an ice cup😲 and they gave it to me in a big glass👍🏻

Two servings of prime rib (marinated) arrived, and the visual was incredible.

The best part of Jipbul Taebaek, the famous BBQ restaurant in Ingye-dong, Suwon!!!! They trim and grill all the meat for you👍🏻👍🏻

The prime rib has an incredible visual😍 the bracken fern and kimchi on the side were delicious too

How to eat the first, second and third bite

For the very first bite, they told us to just eat it plain, placing it on the plate. It melted in my mouth so, so good.

For the second, they told us to dip it in soy sauce and add angelica pesto on top, so I tried that

For the third, the combo was mushroom pesto and wasabi! This was my favorite👍🏻 There were so many side condiments I was wondering what they were for, but it was nice that they walked us through each delicious combination one by one!

Once cooked, they place the meat on top of the bone and step away

The meat still attached to the bone gets trimmed and grilled again later, once you've eaten most of the meat👍🏻 The meat on the bone is delicious too, of course

How was the bibim naengmyeon?

The bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) came with cold broth, and it pairs well with the prime rib, which can feel a bit rich after a while👍🏻

We enjoyed it very much

Guacamole tortilla from the Naver receipt event

With the Naver receipt event, you can get one of guacamole tortilla, affogato, or sorbet — and they recommended the tortilla!

With the guacamole tortilla, I first worried — wouldn't eating this alongside pricey prime rib dull the meat's flavor?😭 But that worry disappeared after one bite😍

They filled the tortilla with meat, lettuce salad, and guacamole

and dipped it in chili sauce, which turned out to be a combo that made the meat taste even better😍

It was so good we finished it completely🤣 Highly recommend this combo⭐️⭐️⭐️

Is Jipbul Taebaek worth it? Final verdict

On the way out I noticed it's been featured all over the place — a real well-known spot!

That wraps up my review of Jipbul Taebaek, the famous BBQ restaurant in Ingye-dong, Suwon~ The prime rib is pricey but it earns its price, and having staff grill everything from start to finish while walking us through delicious flavor combos made for a great meal!
