Walking to Namhae Fish from Jamsilsaenae Station

This was one of those days when the weather was cool and lovely. On a day like that, it feels nice to lift your mood with something delicious, right? So I looked for a good sashimi restaurant around Jamsilsaenae with a well-rounded spread, found this place serving a sashimi omakase set, made a reservation, and went.

It was a four-minute walk from Jamsilsaenae Station. Since it is on the second floor of the building, I simply went up the stairs.

By the way, I liked that I could look over the menu in advance out front.

A spacious interior for group gatherings, too

I excitedly headed up to the second floor, and would you believe how many seats there were? It was really spacious. With large tables as well, it would be a great place for a company dinner or group gathering. Aprons were ready too, so we each put one on.

The sashimi omakase spread menu

We were shown to our reserved table and looked over the menu. I spotted the sashimi omakase, evening soy-marinated crab set meal, evening mulhoe (cold raw-fish soup) set meal, extra sashimi, a plate of uni, and gamtae (sweet seaweed). They also sold seasonal assorted aged sashimi in large or medium portions, shiromi konowata, a plate of uni, kombu-jime raw salmon sashimi, shime saba, special aged-sashimi sushi, and futomaki.

There was also egg sushi, mackerel pressed sushi, today’s grilled fish, grilled mackerel, yuringi, pollock-roe cream pasta, soy-marinated shrimp, and squid and shrimp tempura.

There were snowflake shrimp tempura, special mulhoe, fresh cod soup in small or large portions, blue crab soup, handmade cheese pork cutlet for children, and handmade pork-loin cutlet for children too. There were many special set meals as well. With add-on items available, it was perfect for ordering more, and there were lots of drinks and beverages too.

From all of that, we ordered the sashimi omakase spread. After ordering, porridge and a tangy sashimi salad arrived first.

The porridge was wonderfully nutty, which I loved.

Then all the other dishes came out. Doesn’t everything look so delicious?

So many kinds of aged sashimi

First up was the sashimi. As you would expect from a sashimi restaurant known around Jamsilsaenae, there were truly so many varieties.

I started with olive flounder, and it was, of course, so delicious. Next was red sea bream. It was my first time trying it, and its clean flavor was exactly my taste. I also loved that the mackerel was not fishy at all.

It had been a while since I had amberjack sashimi too, and it was wonderfully fresh and tasty. The yellowtail was so rich and delicious.

The Spanish mackerel had a great texture too. I was happy to see red sea bream, which I love. There was herring as well, so I tried it for the first time, and that sashimi was really delicious too.

The salmon’s rich, fatty flavor was absolutely perfect too.

Even the hairtail sashimi, which I thought might be fishy, was not fishy at all, and I loved that. There was monkfish liver too, so I happily ate that along with everything else.

From sushi to pasta and fried items

Next came soy-marinated raw shrimp sushi and futomaki (thick sushi roll). The combination of ingredients inside the futomaki was so good.

The soy-marinated raw shrimp sushi was incredible—the shrimp had such a springy texture.

Next was clam pasta.

It was packed with delicious clams, and the refreshing flavor and noodles were amazing.

Braised dish enjoyed alongside clam pasta

We enjoyed the braised dish in different ways, sometimes eating just the fish and sometimes having it with the radish. There were also three kinds of fried items, two of each. I loved how large the shrimp were, and the sweet potato and eggplant were fried crisp on the outside, so I just kept reaching for them.

Ending with shabu-shabu full of meat and vegetables

Last was the shabu-shabu (Japanese-style hot pot). There was plenty of meat and lots of vegetables. Once the broth started boiling, we added the vegetables first, then put in the meat when the vegetables had cooked a little.

I tasted the broth first. Maybe because the vegetables and meat had gone in, it had such a deep flavor, which was lovely.

Eating the meat and vegetables together was so delicious. There were truly so many dishes that I was happy the entire time. If you are looking for a good sashimi restaurant around Jamsilsaenae or craving sashimi omakase, I recommend coming here.
