I was craving a handmade burger for lunch today, so I went to Base Burger, a delicious burger spot near Gwanggyo Jungang Station. Let me introduce Base Burger, an American-style burger place where you can taste the real deal of handmade burgers with none of that mass-produced feeling.

How to find Base Burger at Gwanggyo Avenue France

It can be tricky to find your way around on a first visit to Gwanggyo Avenue France, right? Base Burger is on the second floor of the Raon Zone plaza. I followed my map app at first, but it showed the wrong location, so I went to the Atti Zone and had to turn back ㅠㅠ

Take the escalator beside the Avenue France plaza shown in the photo below and you will be right on the second floor! The space connects to the outdoors, so on a clear, cool day it has a lovely picnic-like feel.

Kiosk ordering and today’s menu

Order dine-in or takeout at the kiosk by the entrance. I was planning to eat in today, but it was so good that I ordered takeout too, haha. Pick up your food when the pager buzzes! You can see the chefs busily cooking in the kitchen, which makes the atmosphere feel so lively. Since everything is cooked to order, it tastes even better.

Today’s picks were the Hawaiian Burger set, Base Burger set, and Chili Mozza Cheese Bar.

Free potato chips and ketchup at the self-service bar

After ordering, I sat down and noticed the self-service bar. When I took a quick look, I found out the crispy potato chips were free!? Of course I had to try them. For takeout customers, the chips cost an extra ₩2,500.

Base Burger set and Hawaiian Burger set

The food came out quickly. The handmade burger sets were neatly arranged on trays and looked so appetizing. Each set comes with cola and French fries, so it feels like a great value.

The straightforward Base Burger set

The Base Burger is the most basic menu item: a beef patty, real cheddar cheese, house sauce, butterhead lettuce, onion, and tomato. You can see how fresh the vegetables are just by looking, so my satisfaction was at its peak! These may be the freshest vegetables I have had in any handmade burger. A simple, classic Base Burger through and through.

The Hawaiian Burger set with fire-grilled pineapple

The Hawaiian burger can be a love-it-or-hate-it choice, but it is my absolute favorite burger because it comes with pineapple full of smoky grilled flavor. It has a beef patty, real cheddar cheese, house sauce, butterhead lettuce, low-sodium bacon, and a slice of pineapple.

The house sauce was especially exactly my taste!! It is so delicious and elevates the flavor of the handmade burger. And the butterhead lettuce was wonderfully fresh.

Base Burger is number one for burgers near Gwanggyo Jungang Station. Especially the burger buns—they are no joke. Among all the burgers I have eaten, these are top-tier buns, memorable enough that I cannot forget their taste. Why are they this delicious? I was shocked from the very first bite.

French fries at the peak of crispiness

The fries included with the set surprised me again after one bite. They were thin, crispy fries exactly to my taste—bang, bang!!!! The texture was so good that they tasted great even without ketchup. I loved that the portion was generous too.

The spicy, crisp, and gooey Chili Mozza Cheese Bar

The crispy mozzarella cheese bar came loaded with chili sauce! Its look reminded me a little of nostalgic tteokkochi (rice cake skewers). I was really curious about the taste, and it was spicy, crispy, and moist! It has such an appealing flavor that goes perfectly with a fizzy drink. I also liked that the sauce was not as sweet as I expected. It really does its job as a filling side dish.

Even the free potato chips are extra crispy

I tried the potato chips from the self-service bar. They are free for dine-in guests, and they were much crispier than I imagined. Honestly, I thought they might be a little stale, you know? Not even a hint of staleness—just crunch, crunch. These were attractive enough to make me want to take them home.

Zero Coke is the cheat code that lets you eat burgers, potato chips, and fries endlessly!! Served in a stainless-steel cup, it felt even colder and more refreshing. Base Burger at Gwanggyo Avenue France was so delicious that I was moved... ♡ I also got a burger to take home for my husband.
